Who we are
We are a group of mothers
collaborating with local
communities in order to
advance the safety of
children and families as well
as advocating for national
traffic safety legislation and
funding.

17. Why Mothers?
• Inspired by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)
• Mothers have a special concern for the safety of their
families.
• Mothers have extensive influence over the behavior of
their children and families (Ginsburg, et. Al. 2009;
Ferguson,et.al. 2001;Taubman, et.al. 2005).
• Women in Nicaragua have shown their capacity to
organize for a cause, illustrated by their role in the
Sandinista Revolution, and since then, the swift
ascendence of women into the highest positions of
political power (Stanford.edu).
