The Lost City of
    Atlantis

                        
 There are many stories about the Lost City. Some say it was
a whole continent. Others say it is just a bunch of ruins
under the sea. Yet others say it is the home of Poseidon and
his mermaids. And still others say it is a whole city that was
built by an Ancient group of people and was used as an
outpost to fight an enemy that were not more advance in
  technology, but in sheer numbers.
Plato

 The man who created the myth of the ancient civilization,
Plato, told the story of Atlantis around 360 B.C. He said the
founders of Atlantis were half god, half human. They
created a utopian civilization and became a great naval
power. Their home was made up of concentric islands
separated by wide moats and linked by a canal that
penetrated to the center. The lush islands contained gold,
silver, and other precious metals and supported an
abundance of rare, exotic wildlife. There was a great capital
  city on the central island.
Where is the City?

 There are many theories about where Atlantis was—in the
Mediterranean, off the coast of Spain, even under what is
now Antarctica. "Pick a spot on the map, and someone has
said that Atlantis was there," says Charles Orser, curator of
history at the New York State Museum in Albany. "Every
place you can imagine.” Plato said that Atlantis existed
9,000 years before his own time and the story was passed
down by poets, priests and others. But Plato’s writings are
the only known records of its existence.
Real or Fake?

 Few, if any, scientists think that Atlantis actually existed.
Still, Robert Ballard, the ocean scientist that discovered the
wreck of the Titanic, says that the legend of Atlantis is
“logical” since cataclysmic floods and volcanic explosions
have happened throughout history, including one event that
had some similarities to the story of the destruction of
   Atlantis.
All different types of Myths

 An island that became a real naval power and conquered many parts of
Western Europe and Africa. After failing to conquer Athens, the Island
sank in a day and night of misfortune

 Plato talked about Atlantis as not just one advanced, utopian city but as
an entire Empire, expanding over one continent. The empire had been
established by Poseidon, the Sea God. Poseidon fathered five sets of twins
on the island. The firstborn, Atlas, had the continent and the surrounding
ocean named for him. Poseidon divided the land into ten sections, each to
be ruled by a son, or his heirs. The capital city, Atlantis, became greedy
and the gods decided to destroy them
More myths

 Atlantis was originally located in Antarctica, which at this time was much closer to the
equator. Atlantis, also called the Lost City of the Ancients, City of the Ancestors, and
Atlantus, is a city-ship built by an advanced group of humans called the Ancients,
several million years ago, and the city is about the size of Manhattan. When a Plague
spread through the Milky Way galaxy, Atlantis was launched from it’s home, bound for
the Pegasus Galaxy. An outpost and a few Ancients, who probably had the plague, were
left behind. Atlantis was relocated to the planet Lantea. Then one day, the Ancients
stepped upon a dark world where a terrible enemy slept, the Wraith. They had never met
an being with powers that rivaled their own and they became careless. They warred for a
century, the Wraith slowly gaining ground, before Atlantis was the only colony left in
Pegasus. Out of protection for their legacy, the Ancients sunk the city, a shield holding
back the water, and returned to Earth, hoping that one day, their descendants would
return to find the city and rid Pegasus of their vile enemy.
Up to you…

 Whether Atlantis is real or not, the option is up to you. Do
you think this City is real, or just a figment of our
  imagination?
