5. What is USAJOBS?
• Started as a standard centralized job board for Federal job
opportunities
– Previously applicants had to search more than 450
individual government web sites
– Were often challenged by outdated paper and faxed
based applications
• Enhanced over the years to a applicant-centric job search
and apply web site that leverages a new open integration
framework to utilize many other tools such as assessments,
alternate sourcing, social media, reports and so on.

• Geographical Area of Consideration
– Where applicants must live in order to be considered
• Duty Location
– Certified area for competitively sourced positions (HR

• Job Location
– Where the Pin appears on a map is where I will be/want
to be sitting (Applicant)
