It discusses the importance of having an offline and online presence, clear objectives that resonate with the public, achievable goals, a simple call to action, and engaging supporters. Effective campaigns involve creative approaches, work with allies, and attract media attention. The document also provides tips on crafting clear, persuasive messages with a single message, proposed solution, and call to action.

5. Jonathan Ellis’s Tips on What Makes a
Campaign Effective
To run an effective campaign it needs to pass the TEA
test:
▪ Touch
▪ Enthuse
▪ Act
6. Message?
A clear message (one message)
A simple solution (shows what to do?)
Clear call to action (call this number, visit mobile clinic…etc)
Use of the media (outlet channels)
Contact (whom to get in touch with)
7. Write on the back of the visit card your
message:
▪ What you want to achieve
▪ Why you want to achieve it – positive or negative consequences of no
action
▪ How you propose to achieve it
▪ What action you want taken by the audience Messages should encapsulate
everything you need to say – they are not the same as slogans or soundbites.
A good basic message:
▪ Can be tailored to fit specific audiences
▪ Uses clear, brief arguments that will persuade the audience
▪ Uses simple and unambiguous language that can be easily understood
