Coaching
Dynamic Eating Psychology involves looking at the
individual and his/her various life issues and feelings that
may lie underneath the surface. These issues/feelings may
include: work/career, primary relationship, family challenges,
money, health, divorce, betrayal, sexuality, anxiety,
depression, anger, loneliness, stress, burn-out, etc.
Frequently, experiencing these situations causes many to
turn to food for relief. As we know all too well though, over-
eating and binge eating cause our weight to increase. It’s no
surprise then that the vast majority of us have dieted at some
point in our lives. Unfortunately, after about 1-2 years, 97%
of us will gain all the lost weight back, and sometimes more.
It's simply not enough to tell a person what to eat.
Anyone can read the latest fad diet books and experience
short-term success. But, therein lies the problem. The
success is more often than not short-lived which can then
lead to renewed frustration, anger, hopelessness, and
despair.
In order to gain a positive experience about ourselves and
achieve our authentic body size for the long haul, it's
imperative to address our eating challenges from the inside
out.
Our relationship with food and eating is personal to us. It will
never be enough to "just say no." Eventually the issues that
got us bogged down and turning to food in the first place will
rise up again. So, support and compassionate exploration
are needed to unveil and resolve the specific blockades we
have that get in the way of a healthy relationship with food,
eating, appetite, and our bodies.
Mind-Body
Nutrition
A big component within Eating Psychology Coaching, Mind-
Body Nutrition covers the subject of how our emotional state
greatly influences our body's ability to digest and assimilate
food.
Of course, we will look at what you enjoy eating and how to
work that in with favorable foods for your optimal health and
body size. But, there’s far more to it than that.
For example, did you know:
• Even if we consume the highest quality food available, if we
eat too quickly, or while distracted, and/or when stressed, our
body will not benefit from that food
• Our brain needs time to process that we've actually eaten,
otherwise it will continue to send us hunger messages
• If we eat while stressed, insulin will rise and cortisol will be
released the combination of which add to fat gain / lean body
tissue loss
• By slowing down our eating and focusing on our food, we
can get back in touch with our natural appetite and
experience satiation versus deprivation
• The time of day we eat can support or sabotage our efforts
for sound health and a leaner body
• Our gut brain (Enteric Nervous System) is intricately linked
to our brain proper and will shut down digestion when under
stress
M-B Nutrition also takes unhealthy nutritional beliefs, eating
for pleasure and nourishment, embodiment, macro-nutrient
balance, food quality, food allergies, and processed foods
which can become as addictive as cocaine, all into account.
It’s particularly important to gain awareness regarding the
foods that influence our brains to want to eat more and
more.
Key Soul
Lessons
Finally, Eating Psychology brings Key Soul Lessons into the
picture.
Depending upon the individual and his/her needs, these
lessons may include: forgiveness of others and ourselves,
embracing positive spirituality and calm, (however that is
interpreted by the individual), putting words to our
experiences, (and not food), and speaking the truth, healing
sexuality and emotional hurts, re-claiming our power, and,
agreeing to be here and appreciating our inner soul/spirit
beauty.
