ffective education is a learning experience.
Education brings a natural and lasting
change in one’s thinking and ability to do
things. Many people have a superficial concept
of education; it is compared to taking a certain
course or gaining a certain qualification.
However, qualifications and courses do not
always correspond to effective education. People
can take courses without significant permanent
change. People can achieve qualifications
without change.
Education is the process of accelerating learning
or acquiring knowledge, skills, values, morals,
beliefs, habits, and personal development.
Teaching methods include teaching, training,
storytelling, discussion, and purposeful research.
Education always takes place under the guidance
of teachers; however, students can also educate
themselves. Education can take place in a formal
or informal environment, and any experience that
has a formative influence on the way we think,
feel or act can be considered educational. The
teaching method is called pedagogy.
Formal education is often formally divided into
phases, such as kindergarten or pre-school,
primary education, secondary education, and
then college, university, or apprenticeship. In
most regions, education is compulsory until a
certain age.
Education consists of learning specific skills as
well as something less tangible but deeper:
giving knowledge, positive judgment, and
well-developed wisdom. Education has one
of the basic aspects of passing culture from
generation to generation, but it is more of a
formal process of education and learning that
takes place around the school.
Malaysia is a diverse, federal governance
nation that runs on constitutional monarchy
rules. Malaysia has a rich history of culture that
resembles their attire & architectural designs. It
stands between western & traditional cultures
in every aspect of growth.
Malaysia is regarded as one of the favourite
destination for Inernational students in
Hospitality industry. As we are crossing our
traditional boundaries, the education system
is accepting new methods to transform the
upcoming generation. Malaysia’s Education
Ministry took the necessary steps to make sure
students learn the skills which will propel them
towards success. To make these efforts worthy,
schools took an active part in advancing their
system, which resulted in a better society.
In our edition of The 10 Best International
Schools in Malaysia 2022, on the cover Page,
we have Mohd Fadzil Hashim, CEO & Founder
of Brainy Bunch International Islamic
Montessori School. The institute fosters
Islamic practices in kids at a very young age,
making them good citizens of the world.
SwiftNLift is not just a magazine. We aim
to cover all other topics which account for
the betterment of our society. We always
try to come up with articles covering the
latest trends and essential subjects. We as a
team have worked hard for our readers and
introduced to you this edition. I hope you enjoy

Innovative learning environment for the
leaders of the future by adding SPICE to it
Reason behind creating Brainy Bunch
The idea of setting up a school in general came
when I was looking for an ideal school for my
children. As Muslim parents, I want them to
have a strong uphold in academic excellence as
well as being deeply rooted in understanding and
applying the Islamic values in their way of lives.
Brainy Bunch was created with the sole intention
of providing this platform: where the emphasis on
academic excellence is balanced against the quest
for a strong Islamic studies foundation.
It was not an easy feat to find the right environment
for my children at that time, as schools with good
academic credentials do not put much emphasis
on the spiritual aspects, and vice versa. I was also
looking for a school that can provide English
language as the medium of studies, and most
Islamic schools were conducted in either Malay or
Arabic. At that time, I was also first introduced to
the Montessori Method of learning which piqued
my interest as it aligned with my mission and
vision for the school.
Challenges on the path

and management challenges. However, the biggest
challenge is the acceptance of the public at large
who are not fully exposed to the Montessori system
of learning. Montessori learning does not require
the students to sit for any exams, and that brought
upon a lot of skepticism and apprehension from
the community.
Shifting the mindset of Malaysian parents, who are
fixated with the notion of gradings in schools to
an independent, child-approached education with
no ‘A’s to boast, was a herculean task for us. Not
only do we need to deal with the usual challenges
that come with setting up a school, we have to
educate and manage parents’ expectations of our
schools’ offerings.
Vision & Mission
Mission:
My immediate mission is to produce a new breed
of dynamic Muslims with Al-Quran and Hadith
as their true guidance in life, and who are able to
converse fluently in English. As we grow, we look
to coordinate the efforts of parents, teachers and
community members to empower all our students
to develop, through education, the knowledge,
skills and values needed to create better lives for
themselves and build a more just, ideal society
based on strong Islamic values.
I believe that superior education is the right of
every child to enable them to make their way in
life. In our schools, our aim is to offer our young
boys and girls a sense of identity, coupled with a
strong academic grounding. This will prepare
them for primary and secondary education and
contribution to the wider multicultural world as
morally-guided citizens, role models and leaders.
Vision:
Our vision is to become a leading educational
institution with a commitment to provide sought-
after graduates possessing the highest level of
attitude and essential life skills. We believe that
life skills play a vital role in helping our children
become extraordinary individuals that will
impact not only themselves but the communities
around them.
Brainy Bunch expansion to date
We purchased our first Brainy Bunch kindergarten
in 2008. We took over a small campus in Saujana
Impian, Kajang, and operated it with 6 staff
members and about 60 students.
To-date, we have over 9,000 students in our pre-
schoolsandinternationalschoolsinMalaysiaalone,
spanning over 103 preschools and 3 International
Schools. We have 4 campuses in Singapore, 2 in
Indonesia, 1 in Brunei, 1 in Turkey and 1 Charity
School in Gaza.
Courses and Programs
Our 3 main offerings are Islamic, Montessori
and Cambridge.
For our Islamic courses, we offer Quranic
reading and memorisation, Aqeedah and Fiqh.
This governs the children’s understanding and
most importantly, their assimilation of Islamic
practices in their day to day lives. Students learn to
understand, practise and teach it to their peers. A
Montessori classroom approach of mixed ages sets
up a perfect environment for this to happen.
Montessorilearningmethodisintroducedtoyoung
children as early as 18 months and throughout
their Elementary education. It aids children’s
learning using unique and fun learning tools called
the Montessori apparatus. The philosophy behind
the Montessori teaching is for the students to gain
independence, freedom of choice, confidence and
develop their fine motor skills at a young age, and
pique their curiosity and interest in the topics
being taught. Children learn to obtain mastery
over the subjects without the stress of learning for
the sake of sitting for an exam. Children became
more active and enthusiastic in a lively and active
classroom environment.
Our International School in Cyberjaya is an
official Cambridge Exam centre. We offer a 5 year-
long High School studies comprising Preparatory,
Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes.
Students are exposed to the Cambridge IGCSE
method of learning, following strictly to the
Cambridge syllabus laid out through the scheme
of work and lesson plans. Unlike SPM, students
have the choice to take the exam at any time they
feel they are ready. Our youngest student sat for
her IGCSE at the age of 14 years old.
On top of the Cambridge syllabus, students are
also imbued with a strong foundation of the
Islamic education. Again, the learning of the
Islamic studies is for their daily practises based on
the understanding of the Quran and the Hadith or
the way of life of our Prophet Muhammad pbuh.
High School students are also actively involved
in community services, taking part in external
competitions,aswellaslearningadvancedpractical
skills on top of their academic commitments. We
are registered under the District School Sports
Council, where we send our students to take part
in sports competitions such as Football, Netball,
Rugby, Basketball as well as Track & Field, Cross
Country and Chess competitions.
About Brainy SPICE
The Brainy SPICE is a complete education system
developed to fulfill our children’s development
that will help them attain success in both worlds. It
comeswiththeTargetPlanthattheentireAcademic
Board has come up with to ensure that our aims
and goals for the educational achievements as well
as the other aspects of the children’s developments
are met.
It consists of 5 components as follows: Spiritual,
Physical, Intellectual, Creativity and Emotional. In
Brainy Bunch, children are taught and exposed to
these 5 elements to ensure a holistic development
of a child. This is a complete system to ensure
harmony and equity in every aspect of the child’s
progress. We want to produce students who are not
only successful academically, but also spiritually
and socially.
Uniqueness about Brainy Bunch
It is started by parents for parents. We have our
own Diploma in Early Childhood Education as
well as Diploma in Islamic Montessori that we
extend to teachers. We teach our children to teach
other children, even their own siblings at home!
We constantly improve ourselves by learning best
practices from countries like Japan and Finland,
and incorporate it in our lesson plans.
Effect of Covid19 pandemic &
Solutions implemented
Of course the pandemic affected everybody, no
one was spared from it. When the financial crisis
started hitting us, we lost some teachers but we also
saw the loyal and resilient ones staying behind
to support us. Those who stayed put in their hearts
and soul to make the new learning environment
(online) effective and engaging for students. We
also suffered a lot of withdrawals as the parents of
Brainy Bunch were financially affected as well. This
year, we managed to welcome them back and in
fact increased the number of students’ registration
by almost 15% this year.
Opinion on changing trends in the
education sector
Change is absolutely necessary for the education
system. Students should be taught according to
their present needs. Education should not be static.
We must adjust accordingly to follow the needs of
the students. We need to address the changes that
go through every generation.
Teachers have a major responsibility to create a
favourable environment during the lessons so that
students will feel comfortable communicating
their doubts and problems.

have flexible brains and find it easier to
learn different languages. This is especially
important as they are going to live and work in
multiracial societies.

Culture of Malaysia
The culture of Malaysia is diverse and is a combination
of influences from both the East and the West. With an
eclectic population spread across various ethnic groups,
Malaysia is a spectacular melting pot of traditions
and practices passed down through generations. This,
combined with Western sensibilities, presents a unique
juxtapositionthatisapleasuretoexperience.Withmany
different ethnicities, languages, and religions shows that
Malaysia is a diverse country. People of each ethnicity
have generally retained the cultural customs of their
ancestors. As a result, Malaysian society accommodates
a rich diversity of lifestyles, beliefs, and values.
Malaysians make up about 25% of the Chinese
population, with three main dialects of Chinese
languages spoken: Hokkien, Cantonese, and Mandarin
speakers. Malaysian Indians - who make up 10%, are
descendants of Tamil-speaking South Indians who
were brought under British colonial rule. The people
of Malaysia are a plaid of Chinese, Indian, and native
Malay influences. Malays make up the largest ethnic
group and follow both Islamic and Malay traditions,
and speak the native Malay language.
Malaysian Languages
Bahasa Malay and English are the most widely spoken
languages in Malaysia, but the thriving expatriate
population has ensured the spread of Mandarin
Chinese, Tamil, and other Asian languages. English is
the official language of communication, and most of the
local people are bilingual. So, It is better to know a few
phrases in the local language.
Malaysian Festivals
Malaysian festivals are a joy to participate in – the
festivities are colorful, vibrant, noisy, and dynamic. The

Mooncake Festival (August/September) is a must-visit
for sampling delicious cakes and praying to the Chinese
moon goddess for love and prosperity, while the Chinese
New Year (January/February) is a weeklong celebration
with delicious food, dance, and music.
All major festivals are celebrated from Eid, Chinese New
Year,Diwali,andChristmas,asareseveralMalayfestivals
such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and Aval Muharram, as well
as state-specific festivals such as the Sabah Kaamatan
Festival and the Sarawak Gawai Festival. In addition,
several smaller religious festivals are also held in the
country, such as the Hindu Thaipusam festival, which
includes a procession from the heart of Kuala Lumpur
that ends at the Batu Caves in the north of the city.
PopularMusicandDanceFormsofMalaysia:
	Datun Julud: Hornbill dance performed by Kenyah

Architecture of Malaysia
The presence of different ethnic groups in Malaysia
offers a breathtaking range of architectural styles – from
pre-colonial wooden stilt Malay structures and Islamic
mosques to Victorian and Dutch monuments and
futuristic skyscrapers. Kuala Lumpur is home to the
Petronas Towers – the tallest twin towers in the world –
making it a must-visit!
Many modern buildings have Moorish design elements
due to Islamic influence and beautiful mosques can be
traced across the length and breadth of the country.
Indigenous communities in Sabah and Sarawak boast
wonderful examples of traditional Malay architecture,
built on stilts to cool homes and avoid flooding. Some
traditional houses can still be seen that were made of
wood without any nails, such as the old palace of Seri
Menanti in Negeri Sembilan.
Malaysian Food
In Malaysia, they serve a variety of food like Malay,
Chinese, Peranakan, Indian, Indonesian, Filipino,
Javanese, Japanese, Thai, and Western food. From meaty
wonders like Mi Goreng Mamak (yellow noodles, beef,
and shrimp), Laksa (noodle soup with fish), Roti Jon
(minced meat sandwich), and Rendang (coconut milk
and meat curry) to Apam Bialik (rice From vegetarian
dishes like pancakes), kuih (sugar pastry), popia Basah
(wet spring rolls), and bubur (coconut milk porridge),
there is a myriad of flavor options!
The major flavors used in their food include coconut,
jaggery, tamarind, spices, and meats such as chicken,
mutton, and beef. Pork is rarely used in Malaysian
cuisine for religious reasons. Street hawker stalls are
an affordable option for trying out local cuisine; The
highlight of culture in Malaysia, without leaving a dent
in the wallet. Tipping is not an essential part of the
culture in Malaysia.
Conclusion
This is a great place to visit for travelers, it should also
be noted that the customs and rituals in Malaysia will
be different or unusual for people of a different culture.
Be it the religion, culture, customs, or even the food
consumed, there are many things to keep in mind while
visiting Malaysia.

Education System of Malaysia
30 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
Malaysia has a diverse landscape, cultural diversity, and

International students are allowed to work while
studying. The immigration process for the qualifiers is
simple. The Malaysian government is mainly focusing
on vocational and private education and is concerned
that it may not prepare graduates with the appropriate
moral and ethical values required for multicultural and
multiethnic Malaysians.
Education in Malaysia starts from pre-school to the
universitylevel.Thegovernmentbearstheresponsibility
forastrongeducationsystem.Pre-tertiaryeducationi.e.,
pre-school to secondary education, is monitored by the
Ministry of Education (MOE), and higher education is
managed by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).
The government aims to make Malaysia a center of
educational excellence.
The affordable cost of education and low tuition fees
have made it one of the most popular international
destinations for students. Education cost includes
course fee which includes tuition fee and other study
fees payable to the institute, which depends on what
you are studying and the duration of your course/study
program. Other components include living expenses
which will depend on where you are staying, the type of
accommodation you have, and your lifestyle. Malaysia
has experienced steady economic growth and rapid
infrastructural development.
Malaysia collectively has more than 700 private
higher educational institutions and universities. Many
American and British universities have established their
campuses in Malaysia for Malaysian and international
students. Such universities are established for students
who want to study at a low cost. The Ministry of Higher
Education, Malaysia approves all the universities and
courses. Courses approved by the Ministry of Higher

The International
School @ Parkcity,
Kuala Lumpur
International School @ ParkCity has established itself as
a unique and dynamic place for children to learn. Ever
since they started in 2011 with just over 100 students,
their mission has been to provide a high-quality
education while offering a comprehensive curriculum
that promotes high achievement and embraces
creativity, sports, and the arts. . they quickly earned a
reputation as one of Malaysia’s leading international
schools and were recently awarded Gold Accreditation
Status following the International School’s Quality
Mark (ISQM) Accreditation. Their sister school, ISP
Hanoi, opened in 2019 and followed a similar path,
quickly establishing itself as a leading international
school in Vietnam.
At ISP they believe that children learn best when they
enjoy school and if they are taught by the best teachers.
Their strong academic program is complemented by
a strong pastoral system, which nurtures and enables
each student to achieve their maximum potential.
Their well-developed performing arts and creative arts
programs complement their academic curriculum,
as do the sporting opportunities available at ISP.
Their wide range of co-curricular activities enhances
school life at ISP, as does the In-House System which
encourages healthy competition among students at all
levels. Their school’s core values and learning habits
in all aspects of school life ensure that ISP students
are well-rounded individuals who display honesty,
compassion, and respect towards others. Through these
programs and others, they believe they are igniting the
spark of curiosity in their students and shaping the
leaders, problem solvers, and innovators of the future.
International School @ ParkCity opened in September
2011 and has established itself as an exclusive and
dynamic place for children to learn. They believe
that the competence of the employees they hire
is paramount to creating this unique learning
environment. As they grow, they seek to recruit people
who will complement their existing employees in a way
that they continue to learn from each other’s personal
qualities and experiences.
About Their Sports Faculty:
ISPs are fortunate to have several venues on campus
for various sports and PE lessons. Their multi-purpose
hall, astroturf pitch, and roof-top game area offer a
wide range of activities. An additional sports hall and

enhancing their on-site provision. Their students also
get access to off-campus facilities at the RM60 million
ParkCity Club which is within walking distance of the
school. Their students benefit from being able to use the
tennis and badminton courts, lap pools, and fun pools
as well as a FIFA-sized football field, athletics facilities,
and basketball courts.
Conclusion
To provide the best learning opportunities to their
students, they have expanded their facilities by adding
their new Core Blocks. It includes English and math
classes, seven fully equipped science laboratories,
and various multi-use spaces. With a six-lane heated
swimming pool at the base and an air-conditioned
sports hall on the top floor, it is no wonder that their
students love to come to school.

in their community! With 70 years of experience in
KL delivering first-class education to the local and

At the same time, they consistently achieve some of
the best academic results in this field, with their value-

learning culture. They are all learners in GIS. As well
as supporting their students to achieve success in all
areas of school life, they offer parents weekly workshops
that cover a wide range of subjects and other exciting
learning opportunities each academic year. There are.
In addition, their professional development program
for teachers, which runs weekly, is one of the most
comprehensive in the field.
At GIS, they believe in the concept of academic care:
the notion that children cannot develop academically
unless they are happy, supported, and well cared for.
This holistic approach, in which success is not just about
good grades, defines what they do. I am incredibly proud
of the high level of pastoral care that they provide to all
of their students that is coupled with excellent teaching
and academic mentoring, and ensures that each child
has the opportunity to reach their potential.
In addition, their comprehensive CCA program - one
of the largest in the field - also ensures that every GIS
student has plenty of opportunities to thrive outside of
the classroom. Whether through sports, music, creative
and performing arts, or any other hobby, their students
have every opportunity to be involved and excel in their
chosen fields.
Conclusion
They are a school that is committed to their local and

MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
New way of Education
38 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
Over the years, there have been obvious changes
in the teaching style. In contrast to the same old
recitation exercises to teach students memorization
and recitation, now with modern teaching methods,
interactive methods of teaching have been introduced,
and the result can be seen. It is an education reform
that offers a completely different angle of teaching and
learning as modern teaching methods do not treat
all students at the same level of their comprehension
ability, unlike the traditional method of teaching. Rather
than being simply teacher-based, modern teaching
methods focus more on inquiry, demonstration,
interpretation, practical, collaborative methods, and are
more activity-based.
The new teaching method which we call the modern
teaching method is more activity-based and focuses
on the mind of the learner which engages them in
the whole learning process. In the modern teaching
method, curriculum teaching and planning are done by
making the learner the primary goal.
In this way, learners actively participate in the whole
process to build their knowledge and sharpen their
skills; It is also called the constructivist approach.
Alternatively, the mentor or teacher only helps and
guides them to focus on the objectives of the subject.
All this is done by engaging in activities and adopting
innovative modern teaching methods. The new demand
of the era or the need of the hour for the students is
to adopt contemporary teaching methods which will
help in reducing the competition among the students,
fostering collaboration, and also fostering a healthy
study environment.
Things To Look Forward
	Skill Development:
Even six years after the formation of the Ministry of
SkillDevelopment,theMinistryofSkillDevelopment
and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is scattered and
39
MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift
scattered. It is being monitored by 17 different
ministrieswithoutanycoordinationintheirrespective
areas. Presently the ‘Skill India’ mission is going on
in full swing.
 The Metaverse or ‘Mirror World’, or ‘Special
Internet’, or ‘AR Cloud’, which is a virtual learning
experience combined with physical reality, is the
future of education in the years to come. Online
learning will be more realistic with the help of
the Metaverse, which incorporates the concept of
Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR and VR).
The year 2021 had a large virtual format, almost
real, like a platform to host school events. With the
arrival of the Metaverse event, the online classroom
will feel more real than ever. One can be both offline
and online at the same time, making for a real
learning experience.

Blockchain in Education for Data Security:
The use of blockchain in education is still in its
infancy, but it seems that the future is getting closer
to using blockchain as a tool for data security. A 2019
Gartner survey shows that around 20% of higher
education institutions will use blockchain in the next
two years. It will help in streamlining the tedious
process of verification, transfer of records, records
of employees, distinctive credentials of students,
making the process easy and error-free.
Why is modern teaching needed?
Education is the need of the hour as it creates a literate
society and motivation and instruction are very
important in the process of educating the society and
teachers, guides and administrators are responsible for
motivating the learners. The literacy rate will be leveled
by providing education to the majority of society.
However, to some extent over time, learners demand
new techniques and methods to acquire knowledge
that not only provide them with expertise in
theoretical studies but also provide them with practical
knowledge, sharpen their skills, and in any way. Let’s
ensure to educate to face the challenges. Modern
teaching methods help in achieving the requirements
of modern times.
Conclusion
Technologydominateslearning.Thequalityofsympathy,
kindness, and giving back to society resides in the heart.
The pandemic left children at home without a social life.
Nevertheless, the year 2022 will open children up to the
real world with more kindness as they will understand
the value of many that they remembered during their
home studies.
At this time, it is necessary to incorporate modern
teaching methods as it opposes the idea of repetition
of curriculum and traditional forms of memorization
to educate the students. To develop decision-making
skills, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking
abilities, modern teaching methods are best suited. New
methods of teaching make students more productive
and encourage them to collaborate. Both methods are
effective but what will be done in the meantime remains
a question, and clearly, the importance of modern
teaching methods can be felt.

  • 6. From the EDITOR E ffective education is a learning experience. Education brings a natural and lasting change in one’s thinking and ability to do things. Many people have a superficial concept of education; it is compared to taking a certain course or gaining a certain qualification. However, qualifications and courses do not always correspond to effective education. People can take courses without significant permanent change. People can achieve qualifications without change. Education is the process of accelerating learning or acquiring knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development. Teaching methods include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion, and purposeful research. Education always takes place under the guidance of teachers; however, students can also educate themselves. Education can take place in a formal or informal environment, and any experience that has a formative influence on the way we think, feel or act can be considered educational. The teaching method is called pedagogy. Formal education is often formally divided into
  • 7. phases, such as kindergarten or pre-school, primary education, secondary education, and then college, university, or apprenticeship. In most regions, education is compulsory until a certain age. Education consists of learning specific skills as well as something less tangible but deeper: giving knowledge, positive judgment, and well-developed wisdom. Education has one of the basic aspects of passing culture from generation to generation, but it is more of a formal process of education and learning that takes place around the school. Malaysia is a diverse, federal governance nation that runs on constitutional monarchy rules. Malaysia has a rich history of culture that resembles their attire & architectural designs. It stands between western & traditional cultures in every aspect of growth. Malaysia is regarded as one of the favourite destination for Inernational students in Hospitality industry. As we are crossing our traditional boundaries, the education system is accepting new methods to transform the upcoming generation. Malaysia’s Education Ministry took the necessary steps to make sure students learn the skills which will propel them towards success. To make these efforts worthy, schools took an active part in advancing their system, which resulted in a better society. In our edition of The 10 Best International Schools in Malaysia 2022, on the cover Page, we have Mohd Fadzil Hashim, CEO & Founder of Brainy Bunch International Islamic Montessori School. The institute fosters Islamic practices in kids at a very young age, making them good citizens of the world. SwiftNLift is not just a magazine. We aim to cover all other topics which account for the betterment of our society. We always try to come up with articles covering the latest trends and essential subjects. We as a team have worked hard for our readers and introduced to you this edition. I hope you enjoy reading this piece of our efforts! Nilesh Sabe Chief Editor - Nilesh Sabe

  • 12. Reason behind creating Brainy Bunch The idea of setting up a school in general came when I was looking for an ideal school for my children. As Muslim parents, I want them to have a strong uphold in academic excellence as well as being deeply rooted in understanding and applying the Islamic values in their way of lives. Brainy Bunch was created with the sole intention of providing this platform: where the emphasis on academic excellence is balanced against the quest for a strong Islamic studies foundation. It was not an easy feat to find the right environment for my children at that time, as schools with good academic credentials do not put much emphasis on the spiritual aspects, and vice versa. I was also looking for a school that can provide English language as the medium of studies, and most Islamic schools were conducted in either Malay or Arabic. At that time, I was also first introduced to the Montessori Method of learning which piqued my interest as it aligned with my mission and vision for the school. • 13. and management challenges. However, the biggest challenge is the acceptance of the public at large who are not fully exposed to the Montessori system of learning. Montessori learning does not require the students to sit for any exams, and that brought upon a lot of skepticism and apprehension from the community. Shifting the mindset of Malaysian parents, who are fixated with the notion of gradings in schools to an independent, child-approached education with no ‘A’s to boast, was a herculean task for us. Not only do we need to deal with the usual challenges that come with setting up a school, we have to educate and manage parents’ expectations of our schools’ offerings. Vision & Mission Mission: My immediate mission is to produce a new breed of dynamic Muslims with Al-Quran and Hadith as their true guidance in life, and who are able to converse fluently in English. As we grow, we look to coordinate the efforts of parents, teachers and community members to empower all our students to develop, through education, the knowledge, skills and values needed to create better lives for themselves and build a more just, ideal society based on strong Islamic values. I believe that superior education is the right of every child to enable them to make their way in life. In our schools, our aim is to offer our young boys and girls a sense of identity, coupled with a strong academic grounding. This will prepare them for primary and secondary education and contribution to the wider multicultural world as morally-guided citizens, role models and leaders. Vision: Our vision is to become a leading educational institution with a commitment to provide sought- after graduates possessing the highest level of attitude and essential life skills. We believe that life skills play a vital role in helping our children become extraordinary individuals that will impact not only themselves but the communities around them. Brainy Bunch expansion to date We purchased our first Brainy Bunch kindergarten in 2008. We took over a small campus in Saujana Impian, Kajang, and operated it with 6 staff members and about 60 students. To-date, we have over 9,000 students in our pre- schoolsandinternationalschoolsinMalaysiaalone, spanning over 103 preschools and 3 International Schools. We have 4 campuses in Singapore, 2 in Indonesia, 1 in Brunei, 1 in Turkey and 1 Charity School in Gaza. Courses and Programs Our 3 main offerings are Islamic, Montessori and Cambridge. For our Islamic courses, we offer Quranic reading and memorisation, Aqeedah and Fiqh. This governs the children’s understanding and most importantly, their assimilation of Islamic practices in their day to day lives. Students learn to understand, practise and teach it to their peers. A Montessori classroom approach of mixed ages sets up a perfect environment for this to happen. Children learn to obtain mastery over the subjects without the stress of learning for the sake of sitting for an exam. Children became more active and enthusiastic in a lively and active classroom environment. Our International School in Cyberjaya is an official Cambridge Exam centre. We offer a 5 year- long High School studies comprising Preparatory, Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior and Senior classes. Students are exposed to the Cambridge IGCSE method of learning, following strictly to the Cambridge syllabus laid out through the scheme of work and lesson plans. Unlike SPM, students have the choice to take the exam at any time they feel they are ready. Our youngest student sat for her IGCSE at the age of 14 years old. On top of the Cambridge syllabus, students are also imbued with a strong foundation of the Islamic education. Again, the learning of the Islamic studies is for their daily practises based on the understanding of the Quran and the Hadith or the way of life of our Prophet Muhammad pbuh. High School students are also actively involved in community services, taking part in external competitions, aswellaslearningadvancedpractical skills on top of their academic commitments. We are registered under the District School Sports Council, where we send our students to take part in sports competitions such as Football, Netball, Rugby, Basketball as well as Track & Field, Cross Country and Chess competitions. About Brainy SPICE The Brainy SPICE is a complete education system developed to fulfill our children’s development that will help them attain success in both worlds. It comeswiththeTargetPlanthattheentireAcademic Board has come up with to ensure that our aims and goals for the educational achievements as well as the other aspects of the children’s developments are met. It consists of 5 components as follows: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Creativity and Emotional. In Brainy Bunch, children are taught and exposed to these 5 elements to ensure a holistic development of a child. This is a complete system to ensure harmony and equity in every aspect of the child’s progress. We want to produce students who are not only successful academically, but also spiritually and socially. Uniqueness about Brainy Bunch It is started by parents for parents. We have our own Diploma in Early Childhood Education as well as Diploma in Islamic Montessori that we extend to teachers. We teach our children to teach other children, even their own siblings at home! We constantly improve ourselves by learning best practices from countries like Japan and Finland, and incorporate it in our lesson plans. Effect of Covid19 pandemic & Solutions implemented Of course the pandemic affected everybody, no one was spared from it. When the financial crisis started hitting us, we lost some teachers but we also saw the loyal and resilient ones staying behind

We also suffered a lot of withdrawals as the parents of Brainy Bunch were financially affected as well. This year, we managed to welcome them back and in fact increased the number of students’ registration by almost 15% this year. Opinion on changing trends in the education sector Change is absolutely necessary for the education system. Students should be taught according to their present needs. Education should not be static. We must adjust accordingly to follow the needs of the students. We need to address the changes that go through every generation. Teachers have a major responsibility to create a favourable environment during the lessons so that students will feel comfortable communicating their doubts and problems. ☐ Founded in the Year: 2010 ☐ Founding Member: Mohd Fadzil Hashim ☐ Location: Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Palestine, Brunei ☐ Website : https://brainybunch.com/

  • 38. New way of Education 38 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift Over the years, there have been obvious changes in the teaching style. In contrast to the same old recitation exercises to teach students memorization and recitation, now with modern teaching methods, interactive methods of teaching have been introduced, and the result can be seen. It is an education reform that offers a completely different angle of teaching and learning as modern teaching methods do not treat all students at the same level of their comprehension ability, unlike the traditional method of teaching. Rather than being simply teacher-based, modern teaching methods focus more on inquiry, demonstration, interpretation, practical, collaborative methods, and are more activity-based. The new teaching method which we call the modern teaching method is more activity-based and focuses on the mind of the learner which engages them in the whole learning process. In the modern teaching method, curriculum teaching and planning are done by making the learner the primary goal. In this way, learners actively participate in the whole process to build their knowledge and sharpen their skills; It is also called the constructivist approach. Alternatively, the mentor or teacher only helps and guides them to focus on the objectives of the subject. All this is done by engaging in activities and adopting innovative modern teaching methods. The new demand of the era or the need of the hour for the students is to adopt contemporary teaching methods which will help in reducing the competition among the students, fostering collaboration, and also fostering a healthy study environment. Things To Look Forward  Skill Development: Even six years after the formation of the Ministry of SkillDevelopment, theMinistryofSkillDevelopment and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is scattered and
  • 39. 39 MARCH 2022 SwiftNLift scattered. It is being monitored by 17 different ministrieswithoutanycoordinationintheirrespective areas. Presently the ‘Skill India’ mission is going on in full swing.  The Metaverse or ‘Mirror World’, or ‘Special Internet’, or ‘AR Cloud’, which is a virtual learning experience combined with physical reality, is the future of education in the years to come. Online learning will be more realistic with the help of the Metaverse, which incorporates the concept of Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR and VR). The year 2021 had a large virtual format, almost real, like a platform to host school events. With the arrival of the Metaverse event, the online classroom will feel more real than ever. One can be both offline and online at the same time, making for a real learning experience.  Blockchain in Education for Data Security: The use of blockchain in education is still in its infancy, but it seems that the future is getting closer to using blockchain as a tool for data security. A 2019 Gartner survey shows that around 20% of higher education institutions will use blockchain in the next two years. It will help in streamlining the tedious process of verification, transfer of records, records of employees, distinctive credentials of students, making the process easy and error-free. Why is modern teaching needed? Education is the need of the hour as it creates a literate society and motivation and instruction are very important in the process of educating the society and teachers, guides and administrators are responsible for motivating the learners. The literacy rate will be leveled by providing education to the majority of society. However, to some extent over time, learners demand new techniques and methods to acquire knowledge that not only provide them with expertise in theoretical studies but also provide them with practical knowledge, sharpen their skills, and in any way. Let’s ensure to educate to face the challenges. Modern teaching methods help in achieving the requirements of modern times. Conclusion Technologydominateslearning.Thequalityofsympathy, kindness, and giving back to society resides in the heart. The pandemic left children at home without a social life. Nevertheless, the year 2022 will open children up to the real world with more kindness as they will understand the value of many that they remembered during their home studies. At this time, it is necessary to incorporate modern teaching methods as it opposes the idea of repetition of curriculum and traditional forms of memorization to educate the students. To develop decision-making skills, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking abilities, modern teaching methods are best suited. New methods of teaching make students more productive and encourage them to collaborate. Both methods are effective but what will be done in the meantime remains a question, and clearly, the importance of modern teaching methods can be felt. - Amrin Ahmed
