COLD COMFORT
Introducing
COLD COMFORT
Pocket Pack Tissues(A product of ROSE PETAL)
Everyone's nose needs a little extra love in the cold. Therefore, first time in Pakistan, we
introduce you a product that care for your nose in cold, “COLD COMFORT”TISSUES. The
presence of calendula and menthol are the two major ingredients, which make these tissues
different from other tissues. The COLD COMFORT pocket tissue is thicker than the usual
ROSE PETAL tissues. It is a square shape when folded out flat because of the sturdy and
extra thick layer. The tissue come folded up neatly inside the packet and it is easy to use it
and dispose-off.
The micro fine layer of calendula in COLD COMFORT tissues provides a soothing,
protective balm to help prevent your nose becoming red or drying out, and they are
dermatologically tested for even sensitive skin. COLD COMFORT tissues are the first
tissues in the market to be infused with calendula that leave behind a micro-fine layer of
balm, which soothes your nose and have a touch of menthol in the tissue to ease your
breathing.
This is ideal to soothe a sore nose and prevent skin from drying out. The skin around the
nostrils usually becomes sensitive and irritated resulting in sore skin and during bad colds,
the skin starts to crack and flake, which is very painful. The presence of menthol is the extra
bonus to breathe easily. The tissues have a strong menthol scent, and when during cold one
inhales through this tissue the menthol directly goes in. This really helps to un-block a stuffy
| 26
nose, making it easier to breathe freely again. The scent does fade away after few hours the
tissue has been removed from the packet and exposed to air for a prolonged time.
Presence of Menthol makes it Different!
MENTHOL
Menthol is an organic compound, which is extracted from peppermint and other mints. It is
synthetically made, and it has a waxy, crystal like appearance in its natural state. It can be
extracted from the leaves by distillation, but is more commonly made synthetically. Pure
menthol is a crystalline solid, but it is often used in the form of peppermint oil. It produces a
sensation of coolness in the mouth or when applied to the skin and can act as a mild and
aesthetic. The compound is widely used in cough and cold remedies because of its soothing
effects and as flavouring in candy, chewing gum, medical products and cigarettes.
Properties and Effects of Menthol
Menthol stimulates the body’s cold receptors, producing a cooling sensation when it is
inhaled or applied to the skin. As with the chemical capsaicin found in chili peppers, which
stimulates the heat receptors, the compound does not actually change the skin’s temperature,
but merely produces a feeling of cold.
Another important property of this compound is that it can act as a counterirritant, that is, a
substance that causes mild irritation or inflammation in one place, distracting attention from
pain in another. It also increases the penetration of medications applied to the skin. Menthol
suppresses the urge to cough and creates a sensation of increased openness in the nasal
passages in people suffering from nasal congestion.

INGREDIENTS
ParaffinumLiquidum Stearyl Alcohol CeraMicrocristallina
Isopropyl Palmitate Dimethicone Tocopherol
Limonene Linalool Geraniol
Caprylic Calendula Officinalis’ Extract
Description
ParaffinumLiquidum
Paraffinumliquidum (mineral oil) refers to a petroleum by-product created through
distillation. It is completely transparent and is basically a liquid form of petroleum jelly. It is
usually produced in large quantities and is used in many different ways all over the world due
to its low toxicity and low cost.
Stearyl Alcohol
It is an organic compound. It is classified as a fatty alcohol. It takes the form of white
granules or flakes, which are insoluble in water.
CeraMicrocrystallina
Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes, microcrystal. A complex combination of long,
branched chain hydrocarbons obtained from residual oils by solvent crystallization. It consists
predominantly of saturated straight and branched chain hydrocarbons
Isopropyl Palmitate
It is a palm oil based emollient, moisturizer, thickening agent, and anti-static.
| 28
Dimethicone
It belongs to a group of polymeric organ silicon compounds that are commonly referred to as
silicones. It is optically clear, and, in general, inert, non-toxic, and non-flammable.
Tocopherol
Tocopherols (or TCP) are a class of chemical compounds which many have vitamin
E activity. It is a series of organic compounds consisting of various methylated phenols.
Vitamin E containing products are commonly used in the belief that vitamin E is good for the
skin.
Caprylic:
Caprylic acid is the common name for the eight-carbon saturated fatty acid known by the
systematic name octanoic acid. It is found naturally in the milk of various mammals...
Caprylic acid is used commercially in the production of esters used in perfumery and also in
the manufacture of dyes. Caprylic acid is also used in the treatment of some bacterial
infections.
Limonene
Limonene is a colourless liquid hydrocarbon classified as a cyclic terpene. The more
common D-isomer possesses a strong smell of oranges. It is used in chemical synthesis as a
precursor to carvone and as a renewably based solvent in cleaning products. Limonene takes
its name from the lemon, as the rind of the lemon, like other citrus fruits, contains
considerable amounts of this compound, which contributes to their odour.
| 29
Linalool
It is a naturally occurring terpene alcohol chemical found in many flowers and spice plants
with many commercial applications, the majority of which based on its pleasant scent (floral,
with a touch of spiciness).
Geraniol
Geraniol is a monoterpenoid and an alcohol. It is the primary part of rose oil, palmarosa oil,
and citronella oil . It also occurs in small quantities in geranium, lemon, and many
other essential oils. It appears as a clear to pale-yellow oil that is insoluble in water, but
soluble in most common organic solvents.
Calendula Officinalis Extract
It contains triterpenoid esters the carotenoids flavoxanthin and auroxanthin (antioxidants, and
the source of the yellow-orange coloration). The leaves and stems contain other carotenoids,
mostly lutein (80%) and zeaxanthin (5%), and beta-carotene. Plant pharmacological studies
have suggested that Calendula extracts have anti-viral, anti-genotoxic and anti-inflammatory
properties in vitro. Officinalis exhibited antibacterial activity and both the methanol and
the ethanol extracts showed antifungal activities.
BENEFITS
 Menthol helps opening blocked nose immediately as it came in contact with the nose
 Presence of Vitamin-E keeps the skin soft.
 These tissues are fuss-free and easy to use.
 Menthol helps to relieve pain, stress, and bacteria.

  • 29. | 25 COLD COMFORT Introducing COLD COMFORT Pocket Pack Tissues(A product of ROSE PETAL) Everyone's nose needs a little extra love in the cold. Therefore, first time in Pakistan, we introduce you a product that care for your nose in cold, “COLD COMFORT”TISSUES. The presence of calendula and menthol are the two major ingredients, which make these tissues different from other tissues. The COLD COMFORT pocket tissue is thicker than the usual ROSE PETAL tissues. It is a square shape when folded out flat because of the sturdy and extra thick layer. The tissue come folded up neatly inside the packet and it is easy to use it and dispose-off. The micro fine layer of calendula in COLD COMFORT tissues provides a soothing, protective balm to help prevent your nose becoming red or drying out, and they are dermatologically tested for even sensitive skin. COLD COMFORT tissues are the first tissues in the market to be infused with calendula that leave behind a micro-fine layer of balm, which soothes your nose and have a touch of menthol in the tissue to ease your breathing. This is ideal to soothe a sore nose and prevent skin from drying out. The skin around the nostrils usually becomes sensitive and irritated resulting in sore skin and during bad colds, the skin starts to crack and flake, which is very painful. The presence of menthol is the extra bonus to breathe easily. The tissues have a strong menthol scent, and when during cold one inhales through this tissue the menthol directly goes in. This really helps to un-block a stuffy
  • 30. | 26 nose, making it easier to breathe freely again. The scent does fade away after few hours the tissue has been removed from the packet and exposed to air for a prolonged time. Presence of Menthol makes it Different! MENTHOL Menthol is an organic compound, which is extracted from peppermint and other mints. It is synthetically made, and it has a waxy, crystal like appearance in its natural state. It can be extracted from the leaves by distillation, but is more commonly made synthetically. Pure menthol is a crystalline solid, but it is often used in the form of peppermint oil. It produces a sensation of coolness in the mouth or when applied to the skin and can act as a mild and aesthetic. The compound is widely used in cough and cold remedies because of its soothing effects and as flavouring in candy, chewing gum, medical products and cigarettes. Properties and Effects of Menthol Menthol stimulates the body’s cold receptors, producing a cooling sensation when it is inhaled or applied to the skin. As with the chemical capsaicin found in chili peppers, which stimulates the heat receptors, the compound does not actually change the skin’s temperature, but merely produces a feeling of cold. Another important property of this compound is that it can act as a counterirritant, that is, a substance that causes mild irritation or inflammation in one place, distracting attention from pain in another. It also increases the penetration of medications applied to the skin. Menthol suppresses the urge to cough and creates a sensation of increased openness in the nasal passages in people suffering from nasal congestion.

Caprylic acid is used commercially in the production of esters used in perfumery and also in the manufacture of dyes. Caprylic acid is also used in the treatment of some bacterial infections. Limonene Limonene is a colourless liquid hydrocarbon classified as a cyclic terpene. The more common D-isomer possesses a strong smell of oranges. It is used in chemical synthesis as a precursor to carvone and as a renewably based solvent in cleaning products.
