The yogpod is a podcast with British hosts Simon Lane and Lewis Brindley. Most episodes Lewis has a set of
questions to ask which aren't anything important and serious. They are just general questions like you'd ask to a
friend creating a relatable vibe. The conversation always lead to something hilarious in the end. They sometimes
interview famous stars such as Warrick Davis, Kristian Nairn and Jonathon ross. Some episodes they read fan mail
after gaining a fan base which then leads on to greater conversations. On spiecal episodes such as Halloween
they read each other ghost stories. After their YouTube channel yogscast gained a lot of success they stopped the
yogpod overall. You can listen to the yogpod on iTunes and youtube. The intro starts with a little jingle of the
hosts saying something random and comedic while a tune plays at the back. It then is followed up by Lewis giving
the main intro saying “hello and welcome to the yogpod”. They then start with a personal story which becomes
funnier and funnier as they keep talking. After sometime they play a jingle with Simon saying something random
but funny. This podcast Is very relatable to what I'm going to do for my podcast as they have relatable
conversations and funny banter.

Ear biscuits is a podcast hosted by rhett and link who are successful from their YouTube channel
Good Mythical Morning. They started doing ad skitz for things like Mc Donald’s. they then started a
talk show called Good mythical morning and then out of their success they made a podcast. Their
podcast are all mostly interview based and have interviewed certain people like pewdiepie, king
bach and stampy. they are a kid friendly channel so when they interview people that deal with
adult content they would warn the viewers. They start with a nice jingle with while introducing
themselves and the guest. They then explain what their guest does and why they are famous. They
also show sound clips of their guests content. At the end they tell the viewer who they will
interview next week and finish with an outro. This wont relate much to my podcast as they are
mostly is interviews and not general conversations however they are very professional with how
they talk and their edit which I want with my podcast.

The BBC player radio has a series called shot cuts presented by Josie Long and produced by Eleanor McDowall.
The series are short documentaries. The documentary's are told like stories from a book instead they are
sometimes true stories. In the episode The End of the Story Josie Long explores what can emerge from an
ending. The episode starts with a nice tune with drums and then it changes tune played by a guitar with a
woman's voice giving the intro presumably Josie Long. The stats by summing what the short cuts series is about
“this is short cuts, brief encounters, true stories, radio adventures and found sounds”. The series is summed
quickly like a list however worded like a story. It gets the audience intrigued to want to listen and understand.
The intro then gives short clips of audio of quotes from other episodes which allows the audience to understand
what short cuts is like. The story starts with voice actor telling the story with a suitable accent to suit the story.
While she speaks u can hear eerie sounds played quietly to give emphasis on the mystery of the story. She talks
about creatures swimming under the ice burgs while watery sounds are played. This of course helps us to
imagine the story. As she tells the story they play some audio clips of the scenario she's explaining to emphasise
the story. The way short cuts is portrayed is very different to my podcast. For example my podcast wont be
talking about unnatural stories and it wont be as serious toned. Short cuts has a very complicated way of telling a
story making it very complicated for an audience to understand however my podcast is more simple and
humorous.

5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
- All the products I have talked about are all very different as they all discuss different topics.
- Yogpod and ear biscuits have many similarities such as the light hearted tone, the comedy and the fact that they are formed from a successful
YouTube channel. The yogpod are mostly just friendly talks to one another about funny topics however they do interviews sometimes just like ear
biscuits. They both have a set of interesting questions for the interviewed person and also comedic questions however ear biscuits lean more
towards serious questions. They both have a very relaxed homely atmosphere for the audience to enjoy. Also both podcasts have two hosts.
- Ear biscuits and short cuts have very similar intros as both have a similar tune and they both explain what the episode will be about however ear
biscuits explain in a way more understandable way and short cuts explain with riddle like tone.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
- My podcast will be very similar to the yogpod as my podcast will be more humorous than serious. I will also have friendly discussions
with my friends about certain topics and also sometimes having a friendly debate.
- The intro of the yogpod is very straight forward and doesn’t summarise what they will be doing in the episode which I wont be
following. My intro will be very similar to ear biscuits as they summarise what they will be doing fully and clearly for the audience to
understand. They also have a tune playing which I will also be adding.
- Short cuts have interesting concept as they tell stories with sound effects helping the audience to understand. I will also be doing the
same but with shorter stories and my voice instead of voice actors. I will also add sound effects but without the eerie feel. I then will
discuss the story with my friends in light hearted relatable way.
7. Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range 15-20
• It will be around this age range as I will be discussing
scary and maybe graphic stories which are not suitable
for a younger audience.
• The hosts on the podcast are 16 or above discussing
content suitable for our age. We might also have strong
language within our discussion.
Gender Female/male
• My content isn’t suppose to be for one gender as we are
only discussing ghost stories to one another and our
humour isn’t sided to one gender however the hosts are
all boys which might effect what gender would want to
watch.
Psychographic Belonger
• I chose Belonger as my podcast wont for big companies
and wont be about changing mankind nor achieving
dreams and goals. Instead it will be very local and will be
for enjoyable reasons. My podcast will also be very
British as my hosts are all British.
Social Status Class E
• I think my product should be for all classes
however I think class E would be the most
relatable and suitable for my podcast. It is for
those who are local, casual and have a lot of time
in their hands which suit class E.
