2. Intro to Eco-Friendly Cabinets
Next time you open your cabinets, think about
what its made out of. Is it good for the
environment? If not, then you may be
harming your planet each time you grab a bite
to eat. In this PowerPoint, I will describe what
an eco-friendly cabinet looks like and why you
should make the switch to sustainable
cabinets.
3. Development
• The push for sustainable cabinets is slowly
growing
• More builders and designers are using eco-
friendly cabinets in their office buildings, schools,
and kitchens
• The United States Department of Energy (DOE)
has tried many times to educate people on the
effects on pollution caused by wood, glue, paint
and finisher used on cabinets that may be
harming our world
4. Health Factors
• The wood, glue, paint and finisher we use
everyday are not eco-friendly.
• They need to be water oriented, organic, and
be low on volatile organic compounds (VOC’s).
• VOC’s are made of chlorofluorocarbons,
methane and tetrachloroethene that lead to
smog and pollution in the air.
5. Cycle of Bad Cabinets
You buy non eco-
friendly cabinets
from the store
The wood, glue,
The VOC’s paint and
create smog finisher on the
and pollution cabinets
in the air. contain VOC’s
6. Advantages
The advantages of sustainable cabinets are…
Healthier for the environment
Less chemicals in the paint
Can be recycled
7. Disadvantages
• Can be more expensive
• Can be harder to get based on the builders
belief of eco friendly products
8. Types of Cabinets
• The two types of sustainable cabinets include
Eco-friendly and Green.
• Eco-friendly cabinets are composed of
hardwood, metal, and other recycled
materials.
• Green cabinets are made of plywood, ply
boards, and particleboard.
