7. People wanted to look dishevelled and flaunted their long, greasy locks.
But, you didn't have to be a misbehaving dude to look grunge. Teens
everywhere were sporting this look, wearing rock concert T-shirts
under plaid, flannel shirts.
Denim was also all the rage throughout the '90s. The bigger and
more colourful the jeans, the cooler they were. Baggy jeans, made
famous by hip hop stars, and coloured jeans in red, green
or indigo were seen on every '90s kid. They could be worn in two ways
- hooking one strap and letting the other hang open, or unhooking
both straps and wearing a belt to keep the overalls from falling off.

9. The 1990s was the decade in which the world got a whole lot smaller
thanks to a slew of technological innovations that changed the way
people interacted with each other on an international scale.
One of the first real revelations found in the science and technology of
the 1990's was the emergence of the internet.
MP3's, which were digitally-compressed music files, allowed anyone to
share their entire music collection across the internet quickly and with
CD-quality sound.
Another important digital development of the decade in terms of
entertainment media was the DVD.
Cell phones shrank down to a pocked-sized marvel that enabled
phone calls to be made from almost every possible location.
