Sometimes the most complex problems have the simplest of answers. I
once attended a design thinking workshop where the speaker talked
about ‘kinder garden’ thinking. Throw a problem to a kinder garden
child, and you will get a solution that will blow your mind. Kids think
creative. They think without mental barriers and social conventions
blocking their thought process. They do not judge their ideas; they just
say the first thing that pops into their mind. And surprisingly, that’s
probably the answer you’re looking for.
It’s really that simple.
Think about one of the biggest challenges for large businesses today.
Getting more customers, and retaining the ones they already have.
While the boardroom is full of strategies on how to do this, the
solution, seems obvious.
Give your customers an awesome experience.
No matter how big or small your business, if you make your customers
feel valued, they are going to stick with you. In every interaction they
have with you, make their experience great. So they go back and talk to
their friends about you. And we all know, that’s the best kind of
marketing.
One of the most common complaints we hear from people today is
having to stay on hold forever when they call customer care. And when
they finally talk to a human, they will still need to explain their problem
over and over, often to multiple customer care agents, until they get a
solution. And the larger a company, the more difficult it is for
customers to talk to the right people to get the right answers. As a
result, most people would rather get a root canal than call customer
care.
Today social media has made it a lot easier for customers to connect
with companies, and vice versa. So it’s really about using this medium
right, to keep the conversation going. Talking to your customer like a
human, rather than an entity makes a better impact and gets them
warmed up to you. Similarly, understanding who they are, and being
able to personalize your conversation for each customer will ensure a
great experience for them.
More importantly, if you can continue the conversation thread, from
one medium to another, and stay relevant through it all, that’s the best
customer experience of all.

In every interaction they have with you, make their experience great. So they go back and talk to their friends about you. And we all know, that’s the best kind of marketing.
  • 5. One of the most common complaints we hear from people today is having to stay on hold forever when they call customer care. And when they finally talk to a human, they will still need to explain their problem over and over, often to multiple customer care agents, until they get a solution. And the larger a company, the more difficult it is for customers to talk to the right people to get the right answers. As a result, most people would rather get a root canal than call customer care.
  • 6. Today social media has made it a lot easier for customers to connect with companies, and vice versa. So it’s really about using this medium right, to keep the conversation going. Talking to your customer like a human, rather than an entity makes a better impact and gets them warmed up to you. Similarly, understanding who they are, and being able to personalize your conversation for each customer will ensure a great experience for them.
