- Technology is changing rapidly in todays lives , where we find the importance of using digital devices to access data and information via the
internet. However due to the unbalanced economy between the countries , not all countries have equal access to these facilities. We find
developing countries with less facilities than developed countries. Even within the countries themselves , we find people with different if
nothing at all access to the digital facilities.
This is referred to as DIGITAL DIVIDE.
3. CONSEQUENCES OF DIGITAL DIVIDE
SOCIAL CAPITAL - This is the networks of relationships among people who live / work in a particular society,
enabling that society to function effectively.
- Connecting to the internet creates another set of means by which to achieve repeated
interactions.
- Once an individual has no access to connectivity , he loses the interaction and change of
information with other individuals.
4. CONSEQUENCES OF DIGITAL DIVIDE
KNOWLEDGE CAPITAL – This is the ability of people to access the internet to gain knowledge either for researches
education or corporate reasons
- Digital divide can lead to students to find it difficult to gain access to the relevant
information or data .
- It can also affect people at corporate world to have no access to the latest technologies or
economy affairs.
5. CONSEQUENCES OF DIGITAL DIVIDE
HUMAN CAPITAL - This is the ability of people to have access in online trading facilities , either as business or
consumers.
- Due to Digital Divide , consumers might not enjoy the benefits of buying stuff online ,
which can save time and effort of doing physical business visit.
- Business can also find it very difficult to trade online , and reduce the risk of having people
on their premises….

potential source of enlightenment ever created. Government must regard it as a basic infrastructure , just like roads, waste
and water.
