Help Desk is not able to report key support metrics to IT managers to ensure that Help desk is meeting SLA goals and budget requirements. Help Desk spends a great deal of time manually putting together reports from different databases and then storing the reports in many different locations. Help desk needs performance data on call volumes, response times, labor per incident numbers, and labor costs metrics that need to be pulled and monitored in real time to ensure that Help desk meets target SLA's and budget. Help Desk also needs to include information about system uptime and other parameters which are available in the System Center Operations Manager data warehouse. Microsoft BI solutions solve these problems by publishing automated reports to centralized locations that is organized, secured, and that can be aligned to business process needs. Office SharePoint Server provides these capabilities which can drastically reduce labor involved creating help desk performance reports by publishing the support data from backend databases to IT Help Desk portals in real time. Office SharePoint can also be used to access System Center Operations Manager data to monitor system performance, monitor application and service health, and monitor configuration changes. Office Excel can be integrated with SharePoint Server to publish help desk data and system performance reports while still empowering IT departments to access and analyze business and system performance data. SQL Server Reporting Services reports can publish to a central location and integrate with SharePoint Server which will also reduce labor involved creating reports and solving IT system issues. The BI solutions together can easily monitor IT system health issues from one central location in real time and at the same time access Support performance data to ensure that Help desk is meeting SLA's goals.
