Indian Patent Office Launches Real Time Patent Pending Application
Status of Innovations Filed Before Respective Patent Offices in India
and Patent Examination Status Disposal Report
As per the notification of 13th
September, 2013, on the Indian Patent Office
website, the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks
(CGPTDM) has launched the dynamic utility for viewing the real time patent
examination status, patent disposal report by patent examination groups of
respective patent offices located in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and
Kolkata. Now, any patent applicant can view the real time patent disposal
report of the patent applications by patent examination groups in
accordance with the respective jurisdiction.
This comes as a good news and relief to many foreign patent applicants
who can now view the current status of their patent applications online .
In India, the patent examination groups are divided into four broad groups.

The four broad patent examination groups are as follows:
 Electrical/ Electronics patent examination group
 Mechanical patent examination group
 Chemical patent examination group
 Biotechnology patent examination group
Any patent applicant or
interested person can view
the real time status of
patent examination in India
based on monthly status or
based on search
conducted between
selected dates. The
dynamic patent status
utility will display the patent
disposal report of the
respective patent
application’s examination
groups during a specified time. The patent applicant can click on respective
group to view the current patent prosecution status.
