$15 million Sea Life Aquarium Scheduled to
Open in Tempe in June 2010
The company behind Madame Tussauds and the London Eye,
Merlin Entertainments, is now building a Sea Life Aquarium at
Tempe's Arizona Mills mall. It is scheduled to open in June
2010.
UK-based Merlin is the world's biggest aquarium operator with
31 Sea Life attractions in Europe to date. Its first Sea Life
center in the United States opened two years ago alongside
Legoland California. Last year, Merlin acquired the
Underwater Adventures Aquarium inside the Mall of America
in Minneapolis.
Sea Life Arizona will be 26,000 square feet with 12 different
habitat zones housing over 30 display tanks. It will take
visitors on a journey from Phoenix's lakes through river
canyons and caves to the Cabo san Lucas shoreline. Then,
visitors will take a trip off shore to explore a coral shoaling
ring, a bay of rays and an underwater tunnel, complete with
sharks and other deep ocean dwellers.

as well. She took the sports market on just over a month ago
and is eager to explore the new role.
Raquél's love of Tempe began while she attended ASU and it
has grown from there. One of the many things that she loves
about Tempe is the wide variety of dining options that are
available. From having fish and chips at Mill Avenue's Rula
