Are you ready to “Flip” your class or improve your “Flip”? Flipped learning occurs when direct instruction is moved from the traditional classroom learning space to the individual online learning space. Class time can then be used for active problem solving by students and one-to-one or small-group tutoring with the teacher. Students watch short lectures and other media as many times as they wish to grasp the content and come to class ready to jump into the lesson, answer questions, work on collaborative projects, and explore the topic and content further. Teachers are embracing flipped learning for all disciplines in elementary and secondary schools. Teachers who have successfully adopted a flipped classroom format, state that the best part of the process is devoting more time to deeper discussions, small-group projects, and one-on-one interventions. In this workshop you’ll learn tools and tips to improve your “Flip” and how to transition from a teacher-centered classroom to student-centered learning environment. Participants will: 1. Understand the basic components of the flipped classroom instructional model. 2. Learn how to create video/screencast tutorials. 3. Learn how to differentiate student assignments using video. 4. Sample flipped classroom lessons that incorporate project-based learning activities. 5. Discover tools and resources to flip learning and blend classroom experience with the web.
