Established in 1856 by the Daughters of Charity as the first orphanage in Los Angeles, Maryvale has operated
continuously for morethan 157 years. As the first child-welfare organization in Los Angeles, Maryvale has a long
history of caring for orphaned, abused orneglected children. Over the years, Maryvale has evolved from an
orphanage to an agency providing care for foster youth.Maryvale consistently seeks ways to improve the
quality and broaden the depth of services it offers to the disadvantaged. During thepast 45 years, Maryvale
