The VVHS Interact Club held various fundraising events in October 2010 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In the US, about 62,520 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, a 41% increase from 2001, and approximately 40,000 women die from breast cancer annually. The club raised awareness of how breast cancer affects everyone and raised $227 on the first day of events for the Susan G. Komen Foundation's Race for the Cure to find a cure and treat uninsured patients. They questioned how much more their second event would raise.
