November 1994 to present
Senior Art Director, The Orvis Company
• Started as associate art director, promoted to catalog art director in
1996, then to senior art director in 2010.
• Designed, at one time or another, all the outdoor catalog
efforts, plus the launch of Gifts for Men, Travel, Adventures,
Sporting Gifts, The Dog Book, and collateral projects.
• Participated in two Orvis brand reviews and in the culture and
brand documents for the re-imagined Orvis Fishing department.
• Supervised three of the current catalog art directors before their
promotions.
September 1986–October 1994
Art Director, Bread for the World, Washington, DC
• Directed all design and production for national lobbying
organization.
• Created majority of illustrations and graphics for publications.
Supervised work of part-time designer; contracted free-lancers.
September 1982–May 1986 (part-time)
Graphic Designer, Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA
• Designed and illustrated annual report cover, department
brochures, college quarterlies, flyers, posters, and promotional
mailings.
April 1981–September 1982
Graphic Designer, Hood, Light and Geise, Inc., Harrisburg, PA
• Worked with clients, staff writers, and account executives to
produce advertising material. Projects included print ads, illustrated
brochures, billboard design, and company identity packages (logos).
• Supervised freelance photographers.
• Retouched both black-and-white and full-color photos (with a real
airbrush!).
