Near infrared and infrared cameras
We provide NIR cameras with InGaAs array or linear detectors by Xenics, that
cover the range of 400 nm to 1700 nm and a great variety of infrared camera
configurations in the field of 900 nm to 14 μm. Whether you need a certain
wavelength range, high number of pixels, high speed, a cooled or non-cooled
system, we can suit almost any possible application.
High-speed cameras
We have a wide variety of cameras suitable for applications that demand both the
highest resolution and sample rate at the same time. Our ultra high-speed cameras use
rotating mirrors that always provide the full image of the recorded event, no matter
what sample rate. Even with several million frames per second the image quality is not
affected. We also provide streak cameras for even faster sample rates.
Pulse thermography
The nondestructive analysis of materials by thermography is a wide application field
that is more and more used for finding defects in metals, ceramics and composites.
We offer both complete systems for fast industrial applications or whole work
stations for elaborate research.

Imaging
Hyperspectral imaging
Hyperspectral imaging is a new technology that combines spectroscopic material analysis with the
advantages of of 2-dimensional digital imaging. The result is a fast qualitative and quantitative analysis
of the material and its distribution over large-scale objects in almost all wavelength ranges: UV, VIS, NIR,
shortwave infrared or longwave infrared.
We offer spatially resolving spectrographs for customer-specific applications, complete spectral camera
systems and turn key spectral imaging workstations for a quick start in research or for industrial use.
Large format CCD and CMOS cameras
Aplegen’s scientific large format CCD cameras with up to 16 mega-pixels

and dynamic range. CMOS cameras with sensors from 1.3 Mpx up to 25 Mpx
and a variety of different state-of-the-art interfaces are available in black and
white and colour versions.
Physical imaging
Cutting-edge research in physics, astronomy and engineering laboratories often deals with low light level experimental
conditions, for example when single molecules or dim stars are observed. With Andor Technology’s high-end digital
cameras we provide solutions for such scientific applications. The digital data can
be translated into physical units on photon and electron level. A/D conversion is
done with 14 or 16 bit A/D converters at low read noise.
Andor’s camera technology comprises CCD cameras for UV-VIS and X-ray
imaging, EMCCDs incorporating on-chip electron multiplication, intensified ICCDs
with nanosecond time resolution, and – as the latest innovation – sCMOS cameras.
It depends on the purpose if either a slow scan CCD with low read noise, or a camera with fast frame rate should be
preferred. Andor has the longest experience in operating CCD sensors in sealed and maintenance-free vacuum chambers
that allow deep thermoelectric cooling down to -100 °C and possible exposure times from microseconds to hours.

LightSources&PhotovoltaicApplications
Light sources from 50 W to 1200 W
We offer a comprehensive line of special light sources, including xenon and mercury arc, quartz halogen
and deuterium, for the deep UV region for scientific applications in the field of research and development,
but also for applications in production and QC. We focus on light sources designed for versatility, flexibility
and efficiency. With the broad range of beam handling accessories these light sources provide fast solutions
for individual applications.
Light sources and monochromators
Combine one of our condenser lens lamp housings and a monochromator for a
versatile, bright source of narrow band radiation. Deuterium, xenon and quartz
tungsten halogen lamps provide output which varies slowly with wavelengths
over radiation. Mercury lamps provide intense ultraviolet lines which the
monochromator selects for luminescence or photochemical studies. Computer
control of the monochromators makes them programmable wavelength sources.
Solar simulators for photovoltaics and photobiology
We provide a complete range of solar simulators with a number of spectral and field size options to match
your application. The systems range from low-cost simulators with small field sizes to uniformly illuminated high-
end field versions. Each is combinable with different air mass filters for spectral matching.
IV curve & quantum efficiency measurement systems
All solar simulators can be combined with high-quality measurement systems, probe stations, and control and
analysis software for complete IV curve tracing. Apart from IV curves, the most important measurement on solar
cells is that of the quantum efficiency or quantum yield. Our SpeQuest system can measure both and is suited
for all types of cells.
6
Laser and beam diagnostics
Beam diagnosis based on Hartmann-Shack wavefront sensors allows a comprehensive laser
beam characterization with one single measurement. This is of particular importance for pulsed
or fluctuating sources. Beam parameters such as diameter, divergence, and M2
can be evaluated
from the wavefront and the simultaneously recorded near-field profile in real time and with a
precision in the percentage range.
Spatial light modulation
The SLM liquid crystal modulator arrays allow the independent control of each element in a linear
array of 128 or 640 pixels. The single modulator SLM provides the adjustment of either phase or am-
plitude while the dual SLM modulators offer the simultaneous control of both phase and amplitude.
Power meters YAG and CO2
Our power meters allow quick and easy measurements of laser power at any point in an optical
system where losses are likely to occur. We offer 16 flat and 3 conical models in 9 different
power ranges and with 2 different absorbing coatings. There are models with a spectrally wide
absorbing coating for YAG and CO2
lasers of 0.2 – 11 µm to models with a higher damage
threshold for CO2
lasers only.

Physical Property Measurement System
The PPMS®
is an automated low-temperature and magnet system for the measurement of material
properties like specific heat, magnetic AC and DC susceptibility and both electrical and thermal
transport properties. The base unit of the PPMS®
consists of a cryostat with a superconducting
magnet coil. The different measurement possibilities (options) result from the use of different
measurement inserts or sample holders and the call of the according software mode.
PPMS®
-DynaCool™
The PPMS®
-DynaCool™ connects the traditional PPMS®
platform with an
integrated pulse tube cooler. The system can thus be operated without
liquid helium or nitrogen although it contains a superconducting magnet.
The GPIB board has been replaced by a modern CAN interface. Every
specification of the PPMS®
-DynaCool™ either matches or even exceeds
those of the PPMS®
.
Helium liquefier ATL
Our Advanced Technology Liquefier (ATL) is a novel helium liquefier that can easily
be operated in a laboratory without sophisticated installation requirements.
A touch-screen panel allows easy control of the automated system. The ATL can use
both helium gas from a high-pressure cylinder and recycled gas from a cryogenic
experiment. The liquefaction is performed with very high efficiency due to the
outstanding design. The ATL-80 features an average rate of 12 liters per day and
the ATL-160 22 liters per day, respectively.
Magnetic Property Measurement System
The MPMS®
3 extends Quantum Design’s popular „Magnetic Property Measurement Systems“ (MPMS®
)
family. The system features a very high sensitivity (≤10-8
emu) at high measurement speed. It uses a
linear motor to drive the samples through the pick-up coils of a SQUID gradiometer. In conjunction
with a newly developed superconducting switch it is possible to execute DC-SQUID measurements
approximately 10 times faster than it was possible up to now.

Optics
Optical filters
For more than 35 years, we have been selling optical filters for various applications
and wavelength ranges, starting in the VUV (120 nm) to UV/VIS (193 nm – 700 nm),
NIR (700 – 2000 nm) to MIR filters in the range of 2 µm – 20 µm. Apart from high-
quality standard bandpass filters for the full spectral range from the UV to the MIR,
Andover Corp., one of the leading filter manufacturers, produces individual customized
filters with FWHMs as small as 0.15 nm.
Special filters for Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy are another category widely used in biology, chemistry and the
life sciences. Beside the classic filters, more and more highly transmissive and power resistant filters of the ET series (extend
transmission) are used in these fields. Last but not least we offer a completely new range of highly transmissive (Tx>70%)
and power resistant UV (220 nm – 400 nm) filters allowing applications considered impossible only 5 years ago.
Electrically tunable filters
VariSpec Liquid Crystal Tunable Filters (LCTFs) from CRI are like high-quality interference
filters, but the wavelengths they transmit are electronically controllable. They provide a rapid,
vibration-free selection of any wavelength in the visible and near-infrared spectrum.
Reflective microscopic objectives and IR lenses
Davin reflecting objectives are well known for their unique optical
properties. Due to the all reflecting optics they are free from chromatic
aberrations and by careful selection of the mirror curvatures and their
separation, they are corrected for primary spherical aberration, primary
coma and primary astigmatism.

Many commercially available systems can perform 2-dimensional stress
measurements of thin films deposited on a substrate.
The FLX system from Toho Technology is able to measure film stress in a temperature
range from -65 °C up to +500 °C. By determining the change of the wafer bow
before and after the film deposition, the system calculates the film stress with
Stoney’s equation and graphically displays the stress distribution.
15
Surfaces&ThinFilms
QCM-D Quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring
Q-Sense instruments are based on the patented QCM-D technique. The instruments measure in
real-time the mass of molecular layers that form on the quartz sensor. Simultaneously structural
(viscoelastic) properties of such molecular layers are monitored, which enables the distinction
between two similar interactions or the observation of conformational changes in bound layers.
Measurements of both mass and structural properties gives a thorough understanding of binding
events such as molecular adsorption and interaction.
Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett deposition troughs
KSV NIMA Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett troughs are the leading and
most widely used instruments for Langmuir film fabrication, Langmuir
film characterisation (including microscopy) as well as Langmuir-Blodgett film deposition.
Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett troughs are used for the fabrication
and characterisation of single molecule thick films that offer precision
control over the lateral packing density of molecules.
Spin coaters
Spin coaters are ideal tools to prepare thin and ultrathin films especially for spectroscopic
applications. By applying rotational speeds up to 19.000 rpm thin and ultrathin layers of
extraordinary homogenity can be achieved.
Surface Plasmon Spectroscopy
Surface Plasmon Spectroscopy (SPS) has established itself as a very powerful technology for label-
free interaction analysis on surfaces in real-time. It utilizes changes in surface sensitive propagation
of evanescent waves due to the adsorption of molecules. We offer a research-grade Surface Plasmon
Spectrometer suitable for method developments and most flexible operations.
