10. When do we receive the Holy Spirit?
At the moment we become Christians.
When we become Christians, we are both
“sealed” by the Holy Spirit and “baptized” in
the Holy Spirit . . .
11. Ephesians 1:13-14
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation;
in whom also, having believed, you were
sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who
is the guarantee of our inheritance until the
redemption of the purchased possession,
to the praise of His glory
12. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13
For as the body is one and has many
members, but all the members of that one
body, being many, are one body, so also is
Christ. For by one Spirit we were all
baptized into one body—whether Jews or
Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have
all been made to drink into one Spirit.
13. 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19
“Do you not know that you are the temple
of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in
you?”
“Do you not know that your body is the
temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,
whom you have from God, and you are not
your own?”
14. Given These Scriptures . . .
It seems highly unlikely that the Holy Spirit
would allow a demon inside the temple
that He (the Holy Spirit) occupies!
After all, demon possession means that
demons have direct control (indeed,
ownership) over a person’s thoughts and /
or actions (Luke 4:33-35; 8:27-33; Matthew
17:14-18) and we are not “owned” by
demons, but by God.
17. Demon “Possession” is, however
Different from Demon
“Oppression”
Christians Do face Demon
Oppression
18. Demon Oppression / Influence
Demon oppression involves the attacking
of a person spiritually and/or encouraging
them into sinful spiritual behavior.
1 Peter 5:8-9
James 4:7
We are never instructed to cast out a
demon from a believer, but we are told to
_____ the devil (also Ephesians 6:10-18).
19. Demon Oppression / Influence
Demon oppression involves the attacking
of a person spiritually and/or encouraging
them into sinful spiritual behavior.
1 Peter 5:8-9
James 4:7
We are never instructed to cast out a
demon from a believer, but we are told to
