2. What Is Fear?
Fear is a natural emotion deigned to keep us
safe.
In certain circumstances fear is a great thing,
as it helps us avoid dangerous situations.
At the highest level, there are 2 types of fear:
Danger
Irrational Fear
3. Danger
Danger applies when you're in genuine
danger, i.e. a car is hurtling towards you or
you’re being chased by an animal.
It’s during these dangerous situations
that you want the emotion of fear to
kick in and keep you safe.
4. Irrational Fear
Where fear has gone off course is with irrational
or illogical fear, i.e. the fear of public speaking or
the fear having a sales conversation.
Remember, fear is designed to help you avoid
dangerous situations.
Are you in danger with the above examples? No,
of course not, yet we've created this danger in
our mind, hence the emotion of fear takes over
and prevents us from taking action.

1. Isolate the fear
2. Seek the source of the fear
3. Recognise that the fear is not true
4. Start forming empowering beliefs
5. Start acting “as-if”
6. Create evidence of success

What is the fear that you’re
experiencing?
Is it a fear of:
• Failure
• Criticism by others
• Rejection
• Success
7. 2. Seek the source of the fear
Where has the fear come from?
This fear could’ve originated from:
• Parents
• Friends
• Teachers
• Past experiences
• News
8. 3. Recognise that the fear is not true
Fear is also known as a limiting
belief.
Beliefs are representations in our
minds. They are things that we make
up regardless if they are true or not.
In fact, in the middle of the word belief
is the word L-I-E.
9. 4. Start forming empowering beliefs
If you’re going to create a belief,
why not make it empowering and
positive.
The opposite of fear is love, therefore
swap fear with love:
• Fear of public speaking becomes
you love public speaking
• Fear of sales calls is now a love of
sales calls
10. 5. Start acting “as-if”
Start assuming that you're already
doing the thing you were fearful of.
Change how you identify with yourself.
Behave like the person who is doing
what you want to do.
• What does a successful business
owner do?
• How do they behave?
• What do they say?
11. 6. Create evidence of success
This occurs in one of two ways:
• Start small. Have some success
with the process, reward yourself,
then do it again
• Transfer your skills. Remember
when you had success with a
different task. Why did you
achieve that task? What did you
do? How did you do it?
