Other activities
The sustainable use of drones for
the social good such as
humanitarian aid, development,
cadastral plans, urban planning,
conservation and agriculture
begins with a good understanding
of technology, its strengths and
limitations. It is in this context that
Côte d'Ivoire Flying celebrated the
annual Flying Labs Day at the
UNESCO National Commission in
Abidjan on the 25th of September.
In 2015, drones were used in
Nepal to assess damage following
an earthquake. Thus, under the
impetus of WeRobotics, Nepal
Flying Labs was born on the 25th
of September 2015. Since then,
there are more than 22 Flying
Labs around the world, in Africa,
Asia, the Pacific and Latin
America.
Cote d'Ivoire Flying Labs was
created in October 2018, following
a partnership between
WeRobotics and Investiv. The
projects initiated since that date
and the upcoming projects were
presented during this day which
brought together several
enthusiasts of drones, local
authorities and entrepreneurs in
the sector.

The Africa Girls forum took place on August 30th in Abobo,
organized by our partner DEA (Dynamique et Excellente
d'Afrique). This was the final stage for our girls from the Fly girl
academy. They gave a speech, presented the drones they had
mounted and the things they had learned to an audience of more
than 150 people. After the speech, they held a two-day stand.
This event marked the end of our training program that they loved
and looks forward to seeing us next year for another cohort of
girls.

Training: Introducing high school girls to
drone jobs
Other activities
In Côte d'Ivoire, 60% of the national population is under the
age of 20. This generation aspires to new skills, but due to a
lack of resources and infrastructure, it is difficult for young
people to find a response to their need for knowledge. In this
context, the Dynamic and Excellent NGOs of Africa (DEA) and
Côte d'Ivoire Flying Labs are working at giving young people,
and in particular young girls from disadvantaged
neighborhoods, a chance to see the future in better colors.
In a good school atmosphere, every Saturday afternoon, from
May to August, a group of about ten girls from the modern high
school in Abobo will receive training that will enable them to
have a basic knowledge of UAV technologies and to orient
themselves towards the drone industry in the years to come.
Entitled "Fly Girl Academic", these training sessions are
organized within the Abobo City Hall which offered a classroom
dedicated to the training.

Côte d'Ivoire Flying Labs and
Investiv were represented at the
first drone expo in West Africa
hosted in Abidjan between 25th to
27th April.
Africa Drone Expo 2019 is an
excellent opportunity for
companies in the maritime and
port sector, information
technology, tactical technologies,
construction, energy, agriculture,
urbanization, environmental
protection, forestry and security, to
understand and share with key
experts in air, sea and land UAV
technologies. This event is
organized by the Interregional
Maritime Safety Institute (ISMI) of
the Regional Academy of Maritime
Sciences and Technology
(ARSTM), the regional institution in
charge of maritime safety and
security training for Gulf of Guinea
States. The event was created in
response to the Yaoundé Summit
resolutions on maritime safety and
security in the Gulf of Guinea (25
June 2013).
Our Flying Labs had a stand at the
expo to give information about our
activities in using drones for
agriculture precision.

cooperatives and country tour for promoting drones for
precision agriculture activities.
