This document outlines a research project to document the indigenous knowledge and practices of Tan-awan Village. The project aims to:
1) Study the language, arts, culture, festivities, and different aspects of the traditional Balsa trade.
2) Document indigenous medical practices, food preparation, legends, folklore, and the local dialect.
3) Develop a research-based cultural show and integrate the findings into the local curriculum.
The expected outcomes are to preserve the village's traditional knowledge through documentation, utilize the research in a cultural performance, and disseminate the findings through workshops and publications.

To study the different facets of barter trade
from production of agricultural crops and its
sustainability, transportation of products from
farms to the barter trade area.

trading and its economic implications.

Rituals, Ceremonies, Beliefs and Practices.
To know what dances they have in Barangay Tan-awan
and if they are associated with their rituals, ceremonies, beliefs
and practices.
To determine why and how are these dances performed.
What are the significance of the steps and movements?
To know what are the different musical instruments used
as accompaniment to the different dances associated with
rituals, ceremonies, beliefs and practices and how are they
being played.
7. Legends and Folklore and Local Dialects.
To document the legends, folklores
and local dialects as they were handed
down from generation to generation.
A retrieval of legends and folklores to
preserve it for the succeeding generations.
8. Local food preparation and medicinal
practices.
To document the preparation and
ingredients of local foods especially those that
are considered as specialty in the area and
those prepared on special occasions.
To document the medicinal practices of
the village including the materials being
used, its preparation and application .
9. Expected Outcome:
•Research will be able to document the various
traditional/indigenous knowledge and practices of the
community.
•Research findings will be utilized in the local
production of “Teatro Balsa”.
•A workshop will be conducted on how to integrate
research findings in the curriculum.
•Publish research findings for dissemination and
utilization.
