This short presentation gives an overview of library disability support and contacts for Bangor staff and students, with a focus on the Deiniol science library.

Physical access: Main entrance accessible from street. Side entrance
accessible via ramp from car park. Rear entrance accessed via ramp,
but there are currently access issues with the pavement approach to
the rear entrance (reported to the Physical Access Working Group).
Disabled toilet: Directly opposite the front entrance, down steps. Can
be accessed via lift to the left of the steps.

4. If a need for the for the Book Collection Service is listed on your PLSP
(Personal Learning Support Plan), you may ask staff to collect books
from the shelves and bring them to a library customer services desk.
You will need to email the library - library@bangor.ac.uk - with book
details, and they will be ready the following day.

5. You may use this room if the need is identified on your PLSP.
Location: From Deiniol Library main entrance, the Assistive
Technology Room is past the long desk on the left, turn left, and it is
the first room on the left.

6. The library has a team of Academic Support Librarians, one for each
of the 5 Colleges. You can contact the librarian for your College and
arrange a one to one session for help with topics such as:
• searching for research
• using the library catalogue
• finding journal articles
• accessing e-books
• finding grey literature: dissertations, reports, etc
• using social media for research
• general search skills and tips
• using online reference managers
• copyright issues
4. One to One Assistance
7. If you need any of your resources in alternative formats, e.g. printed
books in digital format, please arrange to see your Academic Support
Librarian. They will discuss your needs, and consult your tutors to
identify core reading for your modules.
Please be aware that some requests can be harder to obtain (e..g old
books from publishers which no longer exist), and some may take
several weeks to arrive, so an early start is essential.

8. When using e-books, e-journals and other online resources, please
contact your Academic Support Librarian if there are any accessibility
issues, from screenreader incompatibility to usability problems.
