Our specialist services and training help create safe and healthy working environments, prevent sickness absence and return absent employees to work quickly and safely. What is it? Studies have shown that at any time, one in six people in the workplace will be experiencing mental health issue and around 15 million working days per year are lost to conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression (Source ONS). Managers have a key role to play in preventing mental health problems arising and are likely to be the first point of contact when problems do arise. However, it is an issue few managers feel comfortable or well-equipped to deal with. This courses aims to provide managers with the knowledge, awareness and skills to deal confidently with these issues. How does it help? This course provides line managers/supervisor with knowledge and tools to confidently deal with mental health issues in the work place. It enables them to identify when an employee is unwell, talk to them about their mental health and support their recovery. What is it? Mental health conditions are now the leading cause of long term sickness absence. People with mental health issues find that there is a stigma involved and that they can’t talk openly at work about their condition, which hinders their recovery. A good level of understanding is important in creating an environment where mental health issues can be openly discussed and individuals can feel that they are supported by their colleagues. How does it help? The aim of this course is to provide all staff an entry level understanding of mental health issues in the work place and promote a more open environment where mental health issue can be more readily discussed. The course will help them to understand their colleagues health conditions and better recognize symptoms should they themselves become unwell. EnableWorksGetting people back to work. Mindfulness is a psychological therapy that is proving effective in treating a range of mental health issues and is now being widely used in business and healthcare. Mindfulness training teaches the subject to adopt a calm mental state by focusing on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting psychological and physiological experiences. In October 2015 a report by the Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary Group (MAPPG) recommend mindfulness in the workplace 'to combat stress and improve organisational effectiveness.' This training is delivered to teams over a full day or a half day. Mindfulness techniques are taught by an experienced occupational therapist in an enjoyable, motivating and interactive way. We bring everything you need to your workplace and deliver practical relevant content as well as provide materials and resources to take away. This training is entirely adaptable to fit your team’s needs. How does it help? Research suggests that mindfulness has the power to enable a wide range of employees to flourish in their role by supporting them to manage their mental health in the workplace. Mindfulness teaches resilience, awareness and adaptability. There is a growing evidence base to support the use of mindfulness to reduce many common mental health conditions such as depression, stress and anxiety amongst others. What is it? Stress is now the major cause of long-term absence in both manual and non-manual workers. This training is delivered to teams over a day or a half day. Stress management techniques are taught by an experienced occupational therapist in an enjoyable, motivating and interactive way. By the end of the day, each team member will have a personalised action plan to help them better deal with stress. This training is entirely adaptable to fit your team’s needs. We cover CBT techniques, communication strategies, setting goals, work life balance, identifying and addressing causes of stress. How does it help? Our managing stress at work course supports employees to develop self- awareness and psychological flexibility to enable them to flourish at work. It aims to address and prevent absences caused by work related stress and mental health conditions. We teach practical coping strategies and techniques to manage both acute and day-to-day work stresses. Managing Stress at Work Mindfulness
