RIO OLYMPICS CAMPAIGN TEASER VIDEO
With the Games in Brazil this year, Panasonic, a long-time official partner to the British Olympic Association, wanted to help Great Britain keep up the fan-fueled momentum. So in April
2016, they announced a crowdsourced campaign called #Superfans, which invited fans of Team GB to post pictures on social media using the hashtag to encourage engagement. This
teaser video with an Olympic gold medalist, is a fun spoof on how to show your support for the Team GB athletes and generate excitement and awareness.

Audiences often look for more practical
information as well, like the agenda, so they’re in
the know about what’s happening next and
where. Don’t overlook the need for this kind of
information.
PROVIDE PRACTICAL INFORMATION
01
Sharing generic statements about the
speaker, your excitement or the vibes of
the room isn’t going to be shareable. Your
audience wants valuable information that is
only available at the event like exclusive
facts, figures and photos.
PROVIDE SHAREABLE CONTENT

13. 13
03
During event sessions, if a speaker or panelist
mentions a blog or news article, try and share links
to it in real-time so users have additional, relevant
sources of information.
PROVIDE CONTEXTUAL INFORMATION
04
Don’t just broadcast your two cents. Proactively engage
with and respond to attendees and those tuning in virtually.
Use hashtags to track conservations and share any content
they’re sharing that is of relevance to your audience. They’ll
be thankful for the spotlight because it makes them look
more credible, and you won’t have to do all the heavy lifting.
PROACTIVELY ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS

06
Not all attendees are comfortable standing up in a room full of
people and asking questions. Use social media to break this barrier
to entry by allowing users to submit questions via social in real-
time.
ADD IN REAL-TIME INTERACTIVE OPPORTUNITIES
05
There are so many socially integrated products on the market that are
designed to capture high quality media at live experiences and
leverage that media by letting users upload the content instantly.
Features include everything from animated gifs and custom branding
that gets placed on and around your photo so that every picture that
gets uploaded is a positive brand impression, to static overlay
additions and pre populated messages with handle mentions and
hashtags to maximize your brand impressions and generate buzz.

All the fan photos posted with the hashtag #Superfans were posted on a dedicated web page on Team

Live coverage at trade shows and events has become standard—consumers expect it.
It’s also an opportunity to:
Connect with your audience in real time
Provide your audience with access to what’s happening, whether they’re attendees on the ground looking for an additional layer of engagement, or at home looking to connect virtually
Boost brand visibility
Drive on-platform engagement
Goals + Objectives
Identify goals and objectives of event coverage and stick to them. Let this guide you and keep you honest.
Channels
Identify which channels you want to provide live coverage on. Not all channels are conducive to live coverage, so identifying which channels you’ll post minute by minute updates on vs. which channels you post key takeaways on is key so you don’t alienate your audience.
Timeline
Set timeline for all stages of engagement: pre, during and after.
Hashtags
Hashtags are an ingenious way to organize social media posts around one topic: your event.
Create a brand specific event hashtag, if necessary and use the official event hashtag to capitalize on an already built in and established audience.
They are a great way to get visibility leading up to the event and to give your audience who can’t make it to your event a hub for real-time event updates.
Don’t just broadcast your two cents. Be an active participant in conversations surrounding the hashtag leading up to the event.
Be sure to follow best practices and research your hashtag before you decide on it 100% to make sure it’s not already being used for something else.
Map Out Team Roles + Responsibilities
Be sure you discuss how to split up the team per event and per channel so you don’t double post and you can maximize coverage opportunities.
The other thing to think about is splitting up into three dedicated teams: 1. listening 2. live coverage and 3. community engagement.
Event Experience Look + Feel
Identify what the on-the-ground experience should look and feel like:
Social Media Booths?
Live Streaming Room?
Man on the Street Type Coverage?
Coverage Formats? i.e. Photos, Videos, Mini-graphics, Live Streaming, Gifs, Boomerang etc…
Third-Party Content Creation Tools
Align on third party content creations tools you’re going to use at the event and learn up.
Some great tools to create quality graphics on the go include:
Adobe Post
Canva
Incentivization
Identify incentives for the most engaged attendees that encourage engagement and discussion.
Develop Teaser Content
It’s a great way to generate interest and drive excitement.
And crowdsource input on current and/or future programming.
Be sure to tap designers for custom graphic templates and/or the video team for video content.

Align on UGC Approach
Develop event content topics for man on the street content gathering.
Ensure plan is in place for social media properties and CTAs for attendees to engage are to be prominently displayed at the event and on collateral.

Create an event cheat sheet with all the information outlined.
