TrackingEnergyTrends–What’skeepingenergyleadersupatnight?
The opportunities and challenges to achieving a sustainable energy future
are many and varied. The potential disruptive capacity of the 3D’s –
digitalisation, decarbonisation, and decentralisation, the still distant promise
of reliable and scalable e-storage capacity, as well as the quick wins
achievable through increased energy efficiency could jointly contribute to an
ideal energy mix. Yet, the picture is not entirely positive: The price of carbon,
energy financing and policy developments are all areas where uncertainty
remains variable.
REFRESHMENT BREAK
Shapinganewenergyfuture
The sustainable, secure and inclusive energy systems rhetoric is high in both
the European and global context, but many players struggle to prioritize
concrete steps that will enable the digitally driven energy future. Political
realities, financial challenges, skills gaps and infrastructure constraints drag
the speed of transformation that is possible.
WELS LUNCH
Innovationsinenergy-what'sbeyonddigitalisationandblockchain
Technological innovations, accelerated digitalisation, or potential game
changers such as blockchain in energy threaten existing business models and
provide entirely new solutions. But, there is still more to do to understand the
scope and scale of impact and how to develop rules that guide public sector,
investors, and private sector leaders as we strive for more sustainable energy,
while still facing the challenge of meeting growing demand.
REFRESHMENT BREAK
Revolutionintransportation-challangesandopportunities
Transport related energy demand is set to grow. This sector is also undergoing
massive changes and different strategies of low carbon transport, zero
emissions and resilient mobility are emerging. The coevolution of transport and
energy systems presents new opportunities and challenges. It also brings
wider and more diverse perspectives into leadership debates seeking to
leverage synergies in accelerating robust energy and mobility transitions - and
direct attention to new solutions in energy storage.
