Free Template from www.brainybetty.com 2 Using Video Clips to Stimulate Discussion in  Online Courses (Kelley, 2008) highlights these points: 1) Be sure the video selection is aligned with the course objectives.
2)Preview the entire video so that you have the opportunity to prepare appropriate questions for your students, which will inspire critical thinking. Free Template from www.brainybetty.com 3
	3) Consider having students write about the concepts being taught and viewed in the video.  Videos tend to have a more emotional or psychic component than lectures. 	You may find students more ready to compose a written narrative upon viewing a video. Free Template from www.brainybetty.com 4
Videos can be used in face-to-face, hybrid or fully online courses as discussion starters.  They can also be used as critique /evaluation instruments.  For instance you can have a student videotape his own classroom presentation and then post this to Teacher Tube for peers to evaluate him using established criteria/ rubrics. Discussion can follow.
