The Lady Buffs continue Lone Star Conference
action on Tuesday night as they head to Odessa,
Texas to take on the Falcons of UT Permian Basin
with first serve set for 7 p.m. at the Falcon Dome.

UT PERMIAN BASIN
The Falcons are led by third year head coach Tim
Loesch who has guided UTPB to 20 victories during
his time in Odessa. Loesch came to UTPB following a
three-year stint at Stetson University.
UTPB enters the week with an overall record of
4-13 with a 1-7 mark in Lone Star Conference play
following home losses to Texas A&M-Kingsville and
St. Edward’s last weekend in Odessa. The Falcons
enter Tuesday night on an eight match losing streak.
The Falcons are led offensively by Rachel Dixon
who has registered 144 kills (2.48/set) on 448 swings
with 65 attack errors to hit .176 on the season.
Kiera Granado paces the UTPB offense with 367
assists (8.53/set) while Sara Vasquez leads the way
defensively with 312 digs (5.03/set).
UT Permian Basin has registered 676 kills (10.90/set)
on 2,314 attempts with 407 attack errors to hit .116 as
a team so far this season. They average 10.20 assists
and 1.20 service aces per set while tallying 978 digs
(15.80/set) and 110.0 total blocks (1.80/set) on the
season.
The Lady Buffs have claimed all nine meetings with
the Falcons in a series dating back to the 2006
season. WT is 3-0 against UT Permian Basin since
the Falcons joined the Lone Star Conference prior
to the 2016 season. The Lady Buffs are 1-0 all-time
inside of the Falcon Dome.

- West Texas A&M 3, UT Permian Basin 0 (10/19/17)
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M remained
unbeaten in Lone Star Conference play as they
handled the visiting Falcons of UT Permian Basin
in front of 300 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The
Box” in Canyon back on September 19th.
Senior Kamille Jones led the Lady Buffs offensively
with 13 kills on 26 swings with just three attack errors
to hit .385 on the night, Selena Batiste led all players
with 28 assists while Chandler Vogel led the way
defensively with nine digs in the win.
The Lady Buffs hit .364 as a team with 42 kills on
88 swings with 10 attack errors to go along with 39
assists, seven service aces, 35 digs and seven total
blocks in the sweep.
UT Permian Basin registered 29 kills on 88 swings
with 18 attack errors to hit .125 on the night with 28
assists, three service aces, 32 digs and four block in
the loss.
LAST TIME OUT
West Texas A&M started fast and outlasted the
visiting Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville in four sets
in front of over 400 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse
“The Box” during Lone Star Conference play in
Canyon on Saturday afternoon.
WT freshman outside Erin Clark registered 18 kills
on 36 swings with just three errors to hit .417 on the
afternoon while senior Crystal Thomas tallied 14 kills
on 27 swings to hit .407 in the win. Selena Batiste
dished out a match high 41 assists while Chandler
Vogel led all players with 15 digs.
The Lady Buffs hit .250 as a team with 64 kills on
148 swings with 27 attack errors to go along with 59
assists, four service aces, 57 digs and seven total
blocks in the win.
Texas A&M-Kingsville registered 49 kills on 135
swings with 18 attack errors to hit .230 on the
afternoon with 46 assists, three service aces, 45 digs
and eight total blocks.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the
best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball,
in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more
affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to
19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Re-
gional Titles and three NCAA Division II National
Championships. “The Box” boats one of the best
home winning records in the NCAA on any level
of competition. The Lady Buffs are 462-73 at
The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible
winning percentage of 86.3%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC
Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at
the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall
career record of 380-89 (.811, 12th year) including
a 244-69 (.778) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led
the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA
Postseason with three South Central Regional
Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Lady Buffs have played in 61 sets during
18 matches so far during the 2017 season. True
freshman Chandler Vogel has started 17 of those
matches at libero while four other freshman have
made appearances in the starting lineup so far this
season for the Lady Buffs.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering last week, LSC volleyball teams were 81-86
overall this season. The squads are 15-17 combined
versus RMAC teams, and 8-5 against the Heartland
Conference, which are the other leagues in the
NCAA South Central Region.
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (OCT. 9)
Lewis picked up 22 of the possible 48 first place
votes in this week’s AVCA Division II Top-25
Poll announced on Monday afternoon by the
association’s offices.
Lewis sit atop of the poll with 1,138 total points
followed by S.W. Minnesota State (14 first place, 1,123),
Concordia-St. Paul (1,072), Palm Beach Atlantic (7 first
place, 1,046), Minnesota Duluth (1 first place, 1,025),
Cal Baptist (3 first place, 999), Central Oklahoma (1
first place, 882), Nebraska-Kearney (840), Northern
State (763) and N.W. Nazarene (727) to round out the
top ten. The South Central Region was represented

87CONSECUTIVE LSC VICTORIES - The Lady Buffs
own the NCAA Division II record for consecutive wins against
conference opponents, WT claimed 87 straight wins against the
Lone Star Conference between September 8, 2006 and September 13, 2011.
During that five-year span, the Lady Buffs claimed five Lone Star Conference
Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Elite Eight with a
National Runner-Up finish in 2009.
26ALL-AMERICANS - The Lady Buffs have produced an im-
pressive number of 26 All-Americans in program history including
a pair of DII National Players of the Year: Cristina Pereira (1991)
and Sarah Butler-Carthel (1997,1999).
19LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS - To say that the Lady Buffs
have dominated the Lone Star Conference over the past three
decades would be an understatement. The Lady Buffs own a
278-48 overall record in the LSC, winning an staggering 86 percent of their
matches.
13REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - The Lady Buffs
have claimed 13 South Central Regional Titles on their way to the
Division II Elite Eight during their 25 all-time appearances in the
NCAA Postseason.

1980 season. Since that time, the Lady Buffs are 1,036-

Entering his ninth season at West Texas A&M in 2017, head coach
Jason Skoch looks to build upon the great success of his first eight
years as the Lady Buffs’ leader.
The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star
Conference for the Lady Buffs as they went a perfect 16-0 in league
play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect
league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs
participated in their 10th straight and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason. Skoch was
named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and his fourth overall award
since joining the league prior to the 2009 season.
2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team
went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South
Central Regional Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced to
the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over Angelo State in San
Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to make the program’s 12th appearance in
the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the season with an overall record of 33-5.
In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th overall LSC
Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked up his second consecutive LSC
Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference
win streak in Division II history of 87 matches from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011.
In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the LSC. The team won
its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA Postseason for a sixth consecutive season
before Emporia State in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of
the Year.
In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady Buffs to fourth-
consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament appearance and 11th NCAA
Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced their fourth National Championship match
appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the
season with a 39-4 record.
Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 370-81 (.820) in his 12 years as a head coach, including a
234-61 (.793) mark in his eight seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to Canyon, Skoch served as head coach
at Truman State. While with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association-member, he guided the Bulldogs to four-
consecutive top-10 rankings in the AVCA final poll.
While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament,
developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The Bulldogs
were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a portion
of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have
been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach.
While still at Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan
Sharpe.
In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks
en route to a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central
Regional, and a trip to the National Sweet 16. The 36 wins were the second-most in
program history, as the team won the MIAA East division for the second-straight season.
Truman went 13-4 in 2007 against teams ranked in the top-25, including a 6-3 mark against teams in the top-10 at the time of the match. The
Bulldogs went 5-3 in matches that went five-games and were swept just once - at the hands of eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the
first weekend of the season.
Skoch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play
and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1
one week later for the first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005. He capped off his first season at the institution with
a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season
was culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and,
after being recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional.
Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff
which led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. Other coaching experience
for Skoch includes spending one season as head coach with the Stillwater Volleyball Club and the Kaeppa Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. He
is a former player with club teams at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University.
Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a
Master of Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001.
Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.
