NUTRITION IN PLANTS IS
VERY IMPORTANT FOR
PLANT LIVING.

3. Food is the most important and
basic things for
life.Carbohydrates,Proteins,
fats,vitamins and minerals are
the components of food.these
components are necessary for
all living beings.

4. Nutrition - The process of utilization of food
by a living organisms to obtain energy is
called Nutrition.

5. TYPES OF NUTRITION
AUTOTROPHIC NUTRITION- Auto means self and
trophos means nourishment.plants are called
Autotrophs.
HETEROTROPHIC NUTRITION- Hetero means others
and trophos means nourishment.animals are called
as Heterotrophs.

7. How plants get nutrients?
● Water and minerals salts are very important for
plant nutrition.
● Mineral salts from the soil dissolve in water.
● Plants absorb water from the soil through their
tiny root hairs.

called Raw Sap,travels up the stem to the
levels through long tubes, called Xylem
Vessels.

9. PHOTOSYNTHESIS
The process of making of food by
green plants in the presence of
sunlight and chlorophyll is known
as photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is the combination
of Photo + Synthesis. Photo
means light and synthesis means
to make.

It enables plants to manufacture food

It is found in special
organelles called
chloroplasts which are
inside plant cells.

photosynthesis,so the process can only
take place during the day.
In the leaves, the raw saps mixes with
carbon dioxide and becomes elaborated
sap: the plant’s food.
