Maximizing your personal growth is a worthy pursuit. In fact, many people make personal development their primary purpose in life. But even if you just want to smooth up your rough edges, having an effective mindset for personal growth will make the process more enjoyable and your efforts more fruitful. Your mindset can make all the difference! Consider developing these qualities to optimize your growth: 1. An open mind. Personal growth requires considering new perspectives, ideas, habits, and beliefs. If you’re dead set on approaching the world in a particular way, you’re greatly limiting your growth. Only when you are open to all the various possibilities can your growth be maximized. Consider that if you already had an optimal perspective and approach to everything, you’d already have everything you want. You may be mistaken about multiple things. Are you willing to figure out what those things are? Are you open to the idea that you might change your objectives based on new things that you discover about the world and yourself? 2. An interest in learning. Are you willing to learn about goal setting? Overcoming fear? Discipline? Communication skills? Reading about new ideas? There’s a lot that you don’t know that you need to know if you’re going to become everything that you’re capable of being. 1 3. The willingness to fail. Trying new things requires failure. It’s rare and lucky to succeed at something the first time. Whether you’re learning to be a better public speaker, taking a class, or learning how to play the violin, there will be failure. Failure provides the opportunity to learn and then to apply that knowledge during future attempts. 4. The desire to experiment. Should you eat a vegan, vegetarian, or paleo diet? Try them all and see what works for you. You can’t be certain what you want to have, do, or be until you’ve experimented and found the best answer for yourself. 5. The ability to set your ego aside. Your ego is a major obstacle when it comes to maximizing your personal growth. Your ego makes you more likely to be certain you’re right when you’re wrong. It leads you to blame others when the fault is your own. It also makes you afraid to fail. 6. Value improvement over perfection. Daily improvement is incredibly powerful. It’s not possible to be great at something instantly. When you can get excited about improving by 1% at something, you have a great mindset for personal growth. 7.Patience. Personal growth is an ongoing process. It may take decades to become the best possible version of yourself. Even figuring out the ideal sleeping schedule can take several weeks of trial and error. It takes time to get over your social anxiety or lose weight. Patience is an important factor! 8. Determination. Changing and growing isn’t for the weak. It’s important to be 2 determined and committed to changing yourself and your life. Determination is a valuable asset to have in many facets of life.

  1. 1. THE PRODUCTIVE ENTREPRENEUR THE SECRETS TO GETTING EVERYTHING DONE THE PRODUCTIVE ENTREPRENEUR THE SECRETS TO GETTING EVERYTHING DONE Coach Wayne Weathersby
  2. 2. Every entrepreneur wants to be productive.
  3. 3. Productivity looks different to different people, but the feeling is universal.
  4. 4. Productivity encourages a true sense of purpose.
  5. 5. The Battle for Productivity
  6. 6. All day long, you’re receiving: • Notifications • Texts • Slack messages • Emails • Social media pings • Calls ...and a whole lot more!
  7. 7. Just as you push in and start getting to important matters, your phone dings.
  8. 8. You’re busy… …but you’re not productive.
  9. 9. You’re getting things done… ...but you’re not getting the “right” things done.
  10. 10. Have you ever felt like you were working really hard, but getting nowhere?
  11. 11. In this workshop, you’ll discover the 4 pillars of productivity.
  12. 12. Pillar #1: Systems Over Goals
  13. 13. There's a big issue inherent with the whole Goals Process… Goals have a distinct termination point.
  14. 14. Measuring success this way can make you feel defeated.
  15. 15. Since goals have an “end”, you never feel like a success until you’ve actually achieved that end.
  16. 16. And even when you achieve your goal, you simply have to start all over again with the next goal.
  17. 17. Even worse, since you already accomplished your goal, you may go back to your old habits.
  18. 18. Do you see how the regular goal process can make you feel like a consistent failure?
  19. 19. The Power of Systems
  20. 20. Systems allow you to: • Make progress on your goals every single day • Guarantee your success • Help you reach your milestones • Avoid the feeling that you’re just spinning your wheels
  21. 21. What are Systems?
  22. 22. Losing ten pounds may be a goal, while the system is learning to eat right.
  23. 23. Goal: Clean the house from top to bottom System: A daily cleaning routine that keeps the house clean
  24. 24. Goal: Generate $50,000 over the next two months System: Every morning, you make three cold calls (or however many is necessary) to potential new customers.
  25. 25. The system ensures that you reach the end result.
  26. 26. More Challenges with the Goal Process… Resolved by Systems
  27. 27. Let’s imagine you’ve set a firm goal for your company. You would like to make X amount of sales by a certain date.
  28. 28. Chances are… …you’ll feel like a failure.
  29. 29. Being overly focused on a distant goal can easily give you tunnel vision.
  30. 30. Goals Limit Your Threshold for Happiness
  31. 31. Once you reach a goal: • The feeling of happiness will likely fade quickly. • You’ll then feel the need to achieve the next goal and the next. • You’re continually chasing something that is, at its best, fleeting.
  32. 32. With Systems, however: “When you fall in love with the process rather than the product, you don’t have to wait to give yourself permission to be happy.” - JAMES CLEAR
  33. 33. With goals, you may also realize that once you’ve achieved a certain goal, you have nothing else to work towards.
  34. 34. Let’s suppose you set a personal goal to run a marathon.
  35. 35. Once you met your goal, you couldn’t stand the thought of going back to that regimented schedule.
  36. 36. What went wrong?
  37. 37. Instead of focusing on a single goal, use a positive, effective system for superior results!
  38. 38. You’ll naturally want to challenge yourself as you continue to enjoy being more active.
  39. 39. How Do Systems Help Entrepreneurs?
  40. 40. First and foremost, systems are much more flexible than goals.
  41. 41. What happens when you shift your focus from a concrete goal to the process that gets you there?
  42. 42. In order for your business to be successful, it’s vital to understand what is working and what isn’t working in your process.
  43. 43. 1 What does your hiring process look like?
  44. 44. 2 Think about your marketing campaign and the system that drives it.
  45. 45. 3 Now think about your products or services and the systems you have in place to support them.
  46. 46. These small day-to-day improvements will make you feel successful, fulfilled, and productive.
  47. 47. Pillar #2: The Early Bird Gets Everything Done
  48. 48. Rising early allows you to accomplish great things before most of the world has even woken up.
  49. 49. Consider the many successful entrepreneurs who are early risers...
  50. 50. What Does Science Say?
  51. 51. Night Owls are More Prone to Negative Thought Patterns
  52. 52. Early Risers Increase Their Chance of Success
  53. 53. A similar study found that students who preferred the morning had higher GPAs, and those who preferred the evening had lower GPAs.
  54. 54. The clear conclusion: Early risers have a higher chance of success.
  55. 55. 7 Ways to be an Early Riser
  56. 56. Tip #1: Go to Bed Earlier
  57. 57. The late evening hours might feel like a good time to be productive, but the truth is: • You have a limited threshold for productivity. • Your progress is going to stall at some point. • Your work is likely to get sloppy.
  58. 58. Instead, leave the evening for rest and time with family and friends.
  59. 59. Tip #2: Turn off the Screens
  60. 60. Technology/screens can affect our sleep in three very big ways: 1. They suppress melatonin. 2. They keep your brain active. 3. Your alerts can wake you up at night.
  61. 61. The solution: Turn screens off or put them away a few hours before you go to bed.
  62. 62. Avoid using your phone for an alarm clock!
  63. 63. Tip #3: Create a Sleep Routine
  64. 64. Go to bed and rise at the same time every day.
  65. 65. The National Sleep Foundation suggests: • Find a relaxing routine activity away from bright lights. • Try to avoid activities that can cause excitement or stress.
  66. 66. If you need something to occupy your thoughts before bed, try reading a book instead of watching a movie.
  67. 67. Other things you can include in your night time routine: • A warm, non-caffeinated drink • Meditation or prayer • A warm bath • Breathing routines • Using an app like “Calm”, which helps you wind down each night
  68. 68. Tip #4: Get Some Exercise
  69. 69. Intense exercise is the most conducive for a good night’s rest, but any level of activity is helpful.
  70. 70. Exercise has been found to: • Increase time spent in deep sleep • Improve the quality of sleep • Help you sleep longer
  71. 71. Tip #5: Keep Your Alarm Clock at a Distance
  72. 72. If you can’t keep your hands off the snooze button, this will force you to get out of bed.
  73. 73. Tip #6: A Splash of Cold Water Can Do The Trick
  74. 74. The cold water will help energize you and snap you into awake mode.
  75. 75. Tip #7: Give Yourself a Reason to Get Up
  76. 76. Choose something that will be effective day after day.
  77. 77. Pillar #3: Kill Your Distractions
  78. 78. The phone buzzes - it’s a text message…
  79. 79. Unfortunately, distractions are one of the main killers of productivity.
  80. 80. So how can you eliminate these distractions and get to the most important stuff? Here are 5 tips to get back on track...
  81. 81. Tip #1: Make Plans the Night or Day Before
  82. 82. For example… • What you’ll wear for the day • What lunch you’ll eat • The way you’ll get to work
  83. 83. You can also set a rough schedule for yourself.
  84. 84. Tip #2: Cut Out Social Media During Work Time
  85. 85. Yes, social media can be a necessary resource for marketing and sales, but: • Constantly checking your personal notifications • Taking the time to respond to various rants • Endlessly scrolling through pictures on Instagram …Aren’t going to help your business.
  86. 86. Here are some strategies to help you manage your social media time...
  87. 87. Set a schedule for when you will go on social media.
  88. 88. Use built-in tools like “iOS Screen Time” and “Android Digital Wellbeing” to monitor or restrict social media use on your phone.
  89. 89. Turn off all non-business related notifications so you’re not feeling the constant pull of “dings” distracting you.
  90. 90. Use your business social media accounts to engage with customers, tweet about your newest products, and make business posts.
  91. 91. Tip #3: Create Boundaries for Interruptions
  92. 92. Give yourself periods during your day when you do not check your phone, emails, or Slack messages.
  93. 93. Choose the rhythm that works best for you, but ensure that you stick to it.
  94. 94. If possible, it’s also a good plan to leave at least one day a week when you’re not scheduled for a meeting.
  95. 95. Tip #4: Create a Productive Work Space
  96. 96. Productivity produces productivity.
  97. 97. Keep your fun places and your workplaces separate, and make your workspace conducive for work.
  98. 98. Tip #5: It Can’t Be All Work
  99. 99. Play opens up a person for creativity and relieves us of our heavy workloads.
  100. 100. Make work enjoyable.
  101. 101. Plan to have breaks during the day when you set aside work.
  102. 102. Choose a quitting time.
  103. 103. Take a vacation.
  104. 104. Limiting distractions can greatly enhance your chances of success.
  105. 105. Pillar #4: Slay Your Dragons
  106. 106. “If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first.” -MARK TWAIN
  107. 107. What Does the Research Say?
  108. 108. Doing easier tasks first creates short-term satisfaction, but negatively impacts long-term productivity.
  109. 109. A short-term victory feels good at the moment, but limits your potential.
  110. 110. Put That Plan into Action
  111. 111. As the day goes on, your ability to focus is going to diminish.
  112. 112. If you choose your hardest jobs first, you’ll be able to finish up the day with your easiest work.
  113. 113. Productivity Is In Your Grasp
  114. 114. Pillar #1: Develop a system that works for you.
  115. 115. Pillar #2: Wake up early in the morning ready for your day.
  116. 116. Pillar #3: Cut out distractions.
  117. 117. Pillar #4: Overcome your most difficult tasks first.
  118. 118. Get started using these pillars of productivity today and enjoy greater success!
