A great deal of the professional literature is devoted to developing content and faculty buy-in for institutional repositories. However, little is known about the end users of these repositories. This is unfortunate since great content is of little value if no one uses it and knowing more about users and their needs leads to more relevant content. So, we need to ask ourselves: "Who exactly is using this stuff, anyway?" Since 2010, Utah State University has been surveying its IR users to answer this question. DigitalCommons@USU houses more than 20,000 documents with full-text downloads of over 500,000. With this much content and activity, our 3-year old repository has matured to a point that we are beginning to shift our focus from just seeking content to understanding our users, their needs, and how we can better meet those needs. In this presentation, we will share the results of our survey, discuss the implications of the results, and propose future directions of investigation. Presenter: Andrew Wesolek, Utah State University

May 17, 2019 Breakthroughs in genetics have often raised complex ethical and legal questions, which loom ever larger as genetic testing is becoming more commonplace, affordable, and comprehensive and genetic editing becomes poised to be a consumer technology. As genetic technologies become more accessible to individuals, the ethical and legal questions around the consumer use of these technologies become more pressing. As these questions become more pressing, now is the time to re-consider what ethical and regulatory safeguards should be implemented and discuss the many questions raised by advancements in consumer genetics. LIBRARIES TO FILTER OR CENSOR PROVIDED MATERIAL? COMPUTER AND INTERNET Computer and internet technology have become a major source of information in todays world. The internet can be accessed using various devices such a smart phones, tablets and computers. Ordinarily the information is open to everybody to access and see With the explosion of internet usage in the United States, the problem of regulating the new technology has been a troubling one. In private domains, the internet is a free range information tool that can be used to access a wealth of information, as well as a wealth of objectionable content, ranging from pornography to violence or hate. The first amendment protects users of the internet to access what they desire with the internet 2 COMPUTER AND INTERNET CONT’D… The internet has both socially and morally good things as well as immoral content. The state has enacted laws that protect the children especially from such bad content The first amendment protects users of the internet to access what they desire with the internet, stating that, “Congress shall make no law[...] abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press”(The First Amendment). The issue takes a different turn, however, when being applied to government funded internet access centers. In particular, libraries and schools are being discussed as to what kind of information they are and are not allowing to be accessed with their connections. 3 KEY WORDS Filtering software Censoring CIPA-Child Internet Protection Act Filtering software are programs that are installed in the computer that will limit the access of certain se cites in the internet. Censoring refers to the hiding of certain parts of material that is being viewed or shown, 4 CHILD PROTECTION In the spirit of protecting the children the state passed law to restrict accessed content The state perceive that children can stray into wrong sites and view bad things To avert such an innocent or deliberate move, filtering or censoring of internet content is in order. Under the Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Congress stated that “if public libraries do not filter access to the Internet, they will lose federal funding for computers and Internet connections” 5 CHILD PROTECTION CONT’D… Some cites praises the use of dangerous substances such as drugs Other cites have extremely explicit content. The internet is laden with all kinds of material and information. some cites possess very destructive content to the young and easily influenced minds. Content such as pornographic material and drug abuse can easily derail a young mind. 6 FACTS AND EVIDENCE A third of drug use viewers in USA are under 16 years The vice is rising with easy of internet access The average age of internet exposure to pornography is 11 years. It worrying that the risk posted by the internet such as those listed above does not make it to top ten on the list of things that parents and guardians worry about. Thus the ...

Questions for the essay: The Internet has become the greatest library ever. With the good comes the bad, however. In particular, some concerned citizens are worried that children too easily can access websites containing inappropriate material such as pornography or racial propaganda. Several solutions to this perceived problem have emerged. One is indirect censorship through federal or state laws that criminalize the transmission of pornographic material online. Another possibility is federal or state laws requiring the use of so-called filtering programs when children are involved. In either case, the battle lines are drawn. Civil libertarian groups and other free speech advocates want no censorship. Concerned parent groups think differently. How do you feel about this issue? Why? Defend your position using concrete examples. Assignment 2 Grading Criteria Maximum Points Student uses terminology introduced in course studies. 10 Student relates concepts introduced in course studies and uses examples and details where applicable. 10 Student communicates ideas in a manner that is clear and complete, leaving no information implied. 10 Correct spelling and grammar and in APA style. 10 Outside sources used in answer. 10 Total: 50 .

Jan 14 NISO Webinar Net Neutrality: Will Library Resources be stuck in the Slow Lane? About the Webinar Net Neutrality is an issue that has been increasingly in the news, but it is something that has affected libraries for a lot longer. Many public libraries are in underserved communities where patrons may not have personal access to the internet, so the use of the public libraries' resources is critical for them. Without net neutrality, those public libraries may not be able to cost-effectively provide such Internet service. For the scholarly and academic communities, scholarly resources could be resigned to the slow lane of the net, if content providers and libraries don't have the resources to pay for the "fast lane." As resources increasingly go multimedia, requiring greater bandwidth, will libraries and content platform providers be saddled with taking on added costs to ensure reliable access? Net neutrality begins with the basic idea that the Internet is a fair and democratic platform for all. Organizations such as the American Library Association, the Association of Research Libraries, EDUCAUSE, and Internet2, among others, have spoken out about the critical need for retaining net neutrality in the library, higher education, and research communities. In this webinar, presenters will help define Net Neutrality, what could happen without it, and how it can impact public and academic libraries, and the wider information community. Agenda Introduction Todd Carpenter, Executive Director, NISO Network Neutrality Principles and Policy for Libraries & Higher Education Larra Clark, Deputy Director, Office for Information Technology Policy, American Library Association Network neutrality: The Public Library Perspective Holly Carroll, Executive Director, Poudre River Public Library District Academic Libraries and Net Neutrality Jonathan Miller, Library Director, Olin Library of Rollins College

Wizards are very useful for creating a good user experience. In all businesses, interactive sessions are most beneficial. To improve the user experience, wizards in Odoo provide an interactive session. For creating wizards, we can use transient models or abstract models. This gives features of a model class except the data storing. Transient and abstract models have permanent database persistence. For them, database tables are made, and the records in such tables are kept until they are specifically erased.

Meanwhile, the simultaneous occurrence of multiple melodic lines can create a more intricate and complex musical structure that challenges the listener's ear and engages their attention.
