of the world and its people and to engage
citizens of Northeast Florida in becoming
better informed participants in the global

Providing opportunities for individuals between the
ages of 21 and 40 to develop a greater
understanding of the world while connecting with
others who share an interest in world affairs and the
globalization of Northeast Florida.

ArtWalk International Trivia!
In March, our YPs spent an evening in The World Affairs Council YPs
downtown Jacksonville for the Young gathered last week for an evening
Professionals ArtWalk. Despite the of Trivia. Team PANGEA went home

An after-school enrichment program
for high-school students, which exposes them to
complex and critical issues
facing our world.

Eleven high schools in the Jacksonville area are
currently participating in the program.

ACADEMIC WORLDQUEST
A team game testing competitors’ knowledge of
international affairs, geography, history and culture.
The winners are invited to the national competition
held in Washington, D.C.

17. AMBASSADOR MARILYN MCAFEE
SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is in honor of the Council’s past president,
Ambassador Marilyn McAfee,
who devoted her professional career to serving
in the Foreign Service and has been
instrumental in the growth of the Council.
$2,000 ANNUAL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
For students whose academic program and/or future interests
include pursuing a career in international business, government,
foreign or military service.

Joy is a second-year student at UNF,
pursuing a Bachelor Degree in International
Relations & Philosophy, and serves as the
Vice President of UNF’s Model U.N.

MANAGEMENT EXERCISE (ICME)
A scenario, role-play exercise where
students act as members of the
NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL
… and work together to come up
with recommendations for an acting
President regarding a mock
international crisis.

20. INTERNATIONAL CRISIS
MANAGEMENT EXERCISE
With Ambassador Nancy Soderberg
and Admiral Jonathan Howe acting
as Presidents, students worked
together to come up with
recommendations regarding various
aspects of the international crisis.
21. TEACHER OUTREACH PROGRAMS
When you train one teacher, hundreds of
students are educated.
Supporting teachers with resources that enhance their teaching.
22. SPOTLIGHT ON TURKEY
Overseas Teacher Enrichment Program
The Spotlight on Turkey program focuses on
giving an overview of the history of Turkey
with a special emphasis on Turkish culture to
American educators and the general public.
With a spring teachers workshop, a Study
Tour over the summer, and a cultural
engagement in the fall, the program
emphasizes classroom learning and public
education about Turkey and its
contributions to the global community.
