Ban xia xie xin tang
From the Jin Kui
Yao Lue:
The Jin kui yao lue says: “for women in hysteria, euphoria and sadness is leading
to emotions accompanied with crying, use Gan mai da zao tang to treat.“
“Discomfort feelings of female patients in their pharynx, use Ban xia xie xin tang".
7. low mood and condition with the main characteristics and sustained for at
least 2 weeks, during which need at least four of the following symptoms:
(1) loss of interest in daily activities, no happy feelings;
(2) energy decreased obviously, feelings of fatigue;
(3) psychomotor retardation or agitation;
(4) Low self assessment, or remorse, or guilt, even delusion;
(5) Difficulties of connecting the mind, or a significant reduction in the ability
to think consciously;
(6) repeated the idea of wanting to die, or suicidal behavior;
(7) insomnia, easy wake up or sleep too much;
(8) loss of appetite, or weight reduce significantly; sexuality decline
noticeably.

8. 2. Distinguish whether deficiency or excess:
Qi stagnation, blood stasis, fire, dyspepsia, wet hysteresis, phlegm, which do
belong to an excess. Absent heart qi, spleen loses its transformation functions,
liver Yin deficiency, which do belong to a deficiency.
Sometimes both a deficiency or an excess, leading to a liver qi stagnation and
deficient spleen functions.

9. Important points of the treatment of an excess:

15. Explanations: Chaihu, Xiangfu, Zhiqiao, Chenpi resolve liver stagnation and
regulate qi. Chuanxiong, Gancao regulate blood and reduce pain, smooth liver
qi. If chests swelling in pain, add Yujin, Qingpi, Foushou to regulate liver qi; if
liver qi attack stomach, stomach qi does not flow downwards, frequency
belching, chest is often not comfortable, add Xuanfuhua, Daizheshi, Sugen,
Fabanxia to drop stomach inverse qi, if food stagnation and abdominal
distension, add Shenqu, Maiya, Shanzha, Jineijin to digestion. If liver qi attacks
the spleen with abdominal distension and pain, diarrhea, add Cangshu,
Fuling, Wuyao, Kouren to strengthen spleen and clear dampness, if blood
stasis and chest rib tingling, tongue with bruises, add Danggui, Honghua to
promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis.
