Given a set of n objects such that there are identical objects of the
same kind (n1), identical objects of another kind (n2), and identical
objects of another kind distinct from the other two (nk), the distinct
permutations of the objects can be expressed as

Solution: We can observe that there are repeated letters in the word
PHILIPPINES. There are 3 Ps and 3 Is which are considered identical, and
there are 11 letters in total. So,

Thus, there are 1,108,800 possible letter arrangements from the word
PHILIPPINES.

3. Circular Permutations
Permutation In a circle is called circular permutation. If n objects are
arranged in a line, there are n! different linear arrangements possible.
Therefore, the number of circular arrangements will be because every n
object in linear arrangements corresponds to one circular arrangement
and is the same as (n-1)!. Therefore, there are (n-1)! ways to arrange n
distinct objects in a circular pattern, where the clockwise and counter-
clockwise arrangements are regarded as distinct.
