Toastmasters began in 1924 in a YMCA basement and has since grown to over 250,000 members worldwide, with 8 clubs in Ukraine. Meetings have 15-20 members who serve in roles like speaker, evaluator, and toastmaster to develop skills. Members complete manuals through projects to earn certificates. The Kiev club meets Tuesdays and has students and professionals. Joining Toastmasters helps with communication, listening, presenting, leadership, career success, and confidence.

3. History
When people hear the word “basement” they’re more likely to picture
mold and spiders than the birth place of a global communication and
leadership training organization. But a basement in a YMCA in Santa
Ana, California, is exactly where, in 1924, Ralph C. Smedley held the
first meeting of what would eventually become Toastmasters
International.
4. Toastmasters nowadays
Toastmasters International has grown to become a world leader in
helping people to be more competent and comfortable in front of an
audience. The nonprofit organization now has nearly 250,000
members in more than 12,500 clubs in 106 countries, offering a
proven – and enjoyable! – way to practice and hone communication
and leadership skills.
There are 8 Toastmasters clubs in Ukraine:
Kiev 6
Lviv 1
Odesa 1
5. How we study
15 – 20 people are usually present at every meeting.
Every member of the club has a unique opportunity to serve in different
roles:

Prepared speaker
Tabletopic master
Unprepared speaker
Evaluator of the speaker
General evaluator
Master of creativity (the exclusive role in TopTalkers club)
Gift giver
Serving in these roles helps our members to develop their leadership
skills and get used to speaking in front of the audience
