Rox Set Team Record as They Overcome Five Run Deficit
St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Mankato MoonDogs 6-5 Wednesday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader. A
crowd of 1,684 at the Rock Pile saw the 2015 team set a Rox record of 38 wins in a season. The 2014 team held the old record with 37
wins.
Ryan Kokora (Paradise Valley Community College) started on the mound and went 5.1 innings where he struck out two batters. Gilian
van Lith (Rocs Aventus) game in for Kokora and faced one batter.
Brian Glowicki (University of Minnesota) would pick up the win after he went 3.0 innings where he struck out one batter and did not
allow a hit.
St. Cloud would score their first run in the second inning when Kyle Serrano (Colorado Mesa University) singled in Michael Strem
(Boston College).
The Rox would continue their comeback in the second inning when John Sansone (Florida State University) hit a two-run homerun off a
tree in deep left field. Lee Miller (Davidson College) would score on the homerun.
Jake Farr (Tennessee Tech) would score in the fifth inning on a Joe Tietjen (UNC Ashville) triple. Austin Athmann (University of
Minnesota) would hit a double in the sixth inning that would score Sansone.
Sansone would score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Michael Strem (Boston College) would bloop a single into
shallow right field.
John Sansone would finish the game 3-4 with one homerun, two RBIs and three runs scored.
The Rox are now 18-7 in the second half and 37-22 overall. St. Cloud leads the second half North Division standings by three games over
Willmar.
Game two is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start with gates opening at 6:05 p.m. The National Entertainment Act “Cowboy Monkey” will be
at the Rock Pile presented by Ram Trucks and Brandl Motors.
