IRB Laws of the Game App Redesign:
"
For my personal project I chose to redesign the IRB Laws of the Game application.
My goal for the redesign was to improve the presentation of the content so that the
user would not be overwhelmed when using this content heavy application.
"
The main changes that I addressed were:
• Adding in individual screens
• Presenting less content at one time
• Moving the bottom navigation to a top-left side bar menu
6.
Research:
Method & Findings:
I researched sports and sports official/referee related apps. I found a very limited
amount of sports official related applications and the majority of them did not
present content very clearly or concisely.
"
Opportunities:
The Federation Internationale Football Association (FIFA) application does a great
job of presenting a heavy amount of content in a visually pleasing and easily
understandable way.
7.
User Interview
I did one in-person interview with a rugby referee. I had him try out the current app
and give me feedback. He had not used the app before because it is only available
on iOS and he is an Android user. His thoughts:
"
“Too busy, not good use of space, just not nice. It works but I would prefer to use it on my
phone because the the layout is so busy on the iPad.”
"
Opportunities:
Simple, small improvements will greatly improve the app.

Prototype
Method, Set Up & First Run & Core Experience
I created a prototype in Flinto. The happy path is for the user to find and view laws,
view the help video, and bookmark a law.
