We were thrilled to welcome Karl Alomar, COO of DigitalOcean! This NYC-based cloud hosting service backed by Andreessen Horowitz has been making an impressive dent in the competitive cloud market. In just 6 years, it's built a $175M ARR, serving +50,000 teams worldwide. Nothing prepares you for high-speed scaling. It's definitely not a 'natural' process, and the social glue within a company can suffer as a result. Karl has seen and done it time and again. In this talk, he shares the trials & tribulations of going from 0 to infinity while preserving your DNA (=culture) and drive (=people). Karl is a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in developing high growth businesses. He is responsible for driving the day-to-day business and people operations at DigitalOcean. Karl also manages their international footprint as the company continues to build out its hardware and datacenter infrastructure internationally. Before that, he was the co-founder and senior partner of China Export Finance, Ltd, where he grew it to over $125M in annual revenues within four years. He received his MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and a Bachelor's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London.
