2. After completing the documentary, radio trailer and
the double page spread we set up several focus
groups and questionnaires to gather feedback from
our products which we created. We gave the
questionnaire to 10 people who were our target
audience which included 5 boys and 5 girls. We
asked them questions based on how they felt after
looking at the double page spread, listening to the
radio trailer and watching the documentary. The
questions mainly asked whether we have been
successful in what we have created and whether
the products were appealing to them.
3. Are you male or female?
We asked this question as we wanted to know whether gender
would have had an effect on our overall results as the documentary
was aimed at teenaged boys. From the result we can see that we
had more girls then boys answer our documentary, so from the
results we collect we will be able to see whether there will be any
significant difference.

The documentary is
informative
We asked this question because we wanted to know whether our
documentary was successful in getting the message across about
violent video games. From the results we can see that the
documentary was very informative as we received very positive
feedback as all 12 people said that strongly and agree that it was
informative. This means that we have been successful in getting
our argument across and people are now aware of the dangers and
aggression violent video games can cause on teenagers.
5. Did you learn something?
Yes
No
This was a simple and straight forward question. From this
we wanted to know whether they had gained knowledge from
our documentary as documentaries should be educational
and help people come to an understanding.
By looking at the results we can see that the results were
positive as every single person had gained knowledge from
our documentary whether or not they agree with the
arguments we bought forward.

The Language used is Suitable
In this question we wanted to know whether the language we
used was suitable for our target audience and whether it was
appealing to them. This was important as the target audience
should feel comfortable and be able to understand what the
documentary is trying to say. From the results we can see that all
12 people said that they think that the language used was
suitable. This shows that we used the right type of language
which makes our documentary appealing to our target audience.
7. 83%

Was the music suitable
Yes
No
We asked this question as it was important for us to know whether
the music was suitable for our target audience and whether the
music sets the tone of the documentary as the music makes the
documentary enjoyable to watch. We received positive feedback
from our target audience 83% said that they thought that the music
was suitable. However the 17% who said no could have been the
girls who wouldn’t really listen to drum and bass or the boys.
However in the area of music I would say that we have been
successful in the choice of music but we may have made
misjudgement on what we thought our target audience would like.

Did the documentary keep your
interest all the way through?
Yes
No
This question asked whether the documentary was interesting and
the main point of documentaries is to keep people intrigued and
entertain them despite the issues being raised and educational
points. We can see that 92% of the people said that they were
interested throughout the documentary which is very positive
feedback. However 8% said that they were not interested which is
concerning as our documentary was to inform people about
violence having a negative impact, and if out audience aren't
engaged and listening then the documentary has failed in
informing people.

Did you like the narrator we
used in the documentary?
Yes
No
This was an important question as the narrator guides the
audience throughout the documentary, in our case it is very
important as it was an expository mode documentary. If people
do not like the narrator then they won’t watch it. We can see
that 100% of people said that they liked the narrator which is
great feedback it shows that the narrator has the power of
being influential and he can manipulate which leads to the
audience agreeing with his argument.

What would you rate the
documentary?
This was an important question as we needed to know what
our target audience thought about our documentary overall. By
looking at the result 6 people voted our documentary as being
8/10 where 5 people said that it was 10/10 which is positive
feedback as it show that we people enjoyed watching the
documentary which means that they may agree with our
argument and that they see some elements as being true. This
shows that we have successfully applied all of the codes and
conventions.
11. 75%
25%
Would you show this to a friend or
family member?
Yes
No
The main reason why people watch documentaries is because they
want to learn and pass on the knowledge to other people and to
decide whether they agree with the arguments in the documentary.
By asking this question we wanted to know whether people would
want to show this to a friend or family member. By looking at the
result it shows that 75% of people would and 25% would not. I think
that we have been successful as we have created an awareness that
violent video games can cause aggressive behaviour and that’s why
the majority of people would recommend this to a friend as they are
concerned or intrigued by the matter.
12. The feedback we received was positive showing that we
have successfully met the requirements for our target
audience and that we have successfully applied all of the
codes and conventions which are required in a good
documentary. however we had many improvements to make
such as the background music should have been more
suitable for our target audience and we should have changed
the music rather then have the same music throughout the
documentary. Also we were told that the sound levels needed
improvements which is a major element in any documentary
as sound levels should be perfect in order for the audience to
understand and be able to listen to the documentary. That
may have been the reason why the 8% of people said they
were not kept interested through out the documentary.
Magazine feedback; conclusion
13. The magazine grabbed your attention
This was a important question as the double page spread promotes the
documentary and should it should attract the reader into reading the
article. Without the article people would not know about the main product
and it is important that the codes and convention are applied
successfully via bright fonts and large text.
From the feedback we can see that 7 people said that the article
grabbed their attention however the 2 people said that it was okay and 1
person disagreed. This shows that we should have made our double
page spread more attractive by making the title larger and choosing
different images to attract the reader.
14. What would you rate the double page
spread out of 10?
This was an important question as we needed to know what the
target audience would rate our double page spread overall
considering all of the codes and convention. From the results
shown we can see that the ratings varied between 5 and 10. the
results show that we were not as successful in satisfying the target
audience with our double page spread and we should have went
with a different approach when it comes to the layout of the double
page spread.
15. Did the magazine keep you
interested through out the article
This was an important question as the target audience should be intrigued at
first sight because the article main role is to attract readers and keep them
entertained so that it makes them want to watch the documentary. From the
results we can see that 6 people said that the magazine kept them interested
whereas 3 said that it was okay and one disagreed. This shows that the majority
of people enjoyed the article however the magazine has failed to keep almost
half of the people interested.
16. The magazine looked professional
It is important that all magazine look professional as our magazine would be
competing with other magazines. If the magazine article looks professional
and well thought of then people can put their trust on the magazine creator
as they feel that they are in good hands and the information will be reliable
as they will be watching a documentary which must also be professional.
From the result we can see that the feedback was positive as 9 people said
that they thought that the magazine looked professional which means that
we have successfully applied the codes and convention needed to make a
good magazine article.
17. Documentary focus group feedback
We asked our focus group to come in and answer a series of questions after watching the
documentary. We recorded the discussion as we though that It would be more effective if we
hear the focus group discussing the their thought with each other and have a debate on how
they felt after watching it.
The feedback we received was very positive as they were intrigued by the topic. What the
focus grouped liked was the fact that they could relate to the documentary as they liked the
use of music and the fact the people in the documentary were their age.
18. Radio trailer focus group
We wanted to record the radio trailer focus group as we wanted to know
how the focus group would react after listening to the radio trailer for the
first time. This was because people would only get the chance to listen
to the trailer once if played by a radio. the feedback given was positive
and the target audience felt that the trailer made them want to watch the
radio trailer. They liked the introduction of the radio trailer as they said
that they were engaged by it.
19. TV listing focus group
It was important to conducted a focus group for the double page spread we needed to
know the initial thoughts. This is also important because the magazine article promotes
the main product and the magazine will directly effected, how many people will actually
watch the documentary. The focus group said that they liked the use of colours as the
text stands, such as the title and quotes. They also added that the magazine was
athletically pleasing which shows that the magazine was attractive and good looks at.
They also though that the language used was appropriate for the target audience. This
was an important point as the magazine article was successful in the sense that the
audience can understand the article and they can relate to it.
20. Conclusion
Overall I think that all three products were successful and
played their roles well. I think that the radio trailer and the
double page spread promotes the main product well as they
are consistent and show a clear link between them. I think that
by looking at the results we have collected from our focus
group and target audience we have satisfied their demands.
Reflecting on all three products I would say the weakest
between the three would be the double page spread. This is
because I feel that we could have improved on the layout of
the article and used a range of different images, images that
were not from the documentary. Also I feel that the images
used should have been more eye catching as I think that there
was to much going on in the double page spread.
