1. What kind of media institution might distribute your media
product and why?
I believe that there would be a huge range of institutions that would want to
distribute our thriller opening sequence but I have decided to choose
Paramount Pictures because it distributes films that are not necessarily
conventional to their genre like ours.
Paramount Pictures
Paramount Pictures is a film and television distribution studio who is ranked as one
of the highest up movie studios of all time. That is why they would be excellent at
distributing our product. To begin with people know Paramount and their films so well
that some people even just go to see the films just because it’s released by them
and hopefully this would happen with our product.
They have released films that are recognizable over the world ranging from horror to
comedy. This is perfect as it means they are also willing to distribute a vast
expanding range of genres.

Paranormal Activity
Although being a different genre, both Paranormal Activity and our media piece are not that
different. They both heavily feature some out of the ordinary and paranormal things. The
mise-en-scene of both our media products is also very similar in that they include a lot of
dull colours, different angles and our settings are rather similar.
Shutter Island
This film is definitely one of Paramount’s most recognizable releases and is actually rather
similar to my opening in that they are both to do with the main character being out of touch
with reality and being misunderstood whilst not actually understanding themselves. Its story
is also really heavily based on the main character just like in mine.

2. Every film has some kind of advertising form that gets word to spread about
their films to increase interest and hopefully increase the amount of people to
view the films. Paramount use things such as posters:

I think that this type of advertising would be a perfect fit for our product as our product
would make such a good poster and trailer by perhaps just having little teaser clips and
photos included so that it makes the audience more interested to see more.
