Information and communication technologies (ICT) are increasingly being used in geography to collect, analyze, and present spatial data. Tools like geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing, and crowd-sourced mapping allow geographers to study environmental and social phenomena at various scales. While ICT expands what geographers can study, some argue it may reduce traditional fieldwork and skills like map reading.
