2. What is Thanksgiving Day?
Thanksgiving Day is
celebrated in North
America on the last
Thursday of November.
People from the United
States and Canada give
thanks to God for all the
good things they
received during the year
by feasting and prayer.
3. The Pilgrims first arrived at Plymouth
Rock in 1620. They sailed on the
Mayflower.
The first winter in Massachusetts
was really bad and a lot of pilgrims died.
The Indians helped the pilgrims through
that difficult period.
4. In the Spring of 1621, the Indians taught the
Pilgrims how to plant corn or grow pumpkins,
beans, peas, etc. They also taught them how
to catch fish.
The harvest was very good and in autumn
they had a lot of food.
They had a feast to celebrate it and give
thanks to God for all the food.
