Sonic is the world's fastest hedgehog who can run at supersonic speeds. He has the ability to roll into a ball and spin dash. When he collects seven Chaos Emeralds, he transforms into the more powerful Super Sonic. Sonic's friend Tails has the unique ability to fly using his two tails, but tires easily. Knuckles is the last of his clan and guardian of the floating Angel Island. Amy is Sonic's self-appointed girlfriend who is bright and cheerful but also strong and competitive.

2. What Is Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic is known as the world's fastest hedgehog. Sonic's greatest strength is his running speed, which is faster than the speed of sound. Many of his abilities are variations on the tendency for hedgehogs to roll into tight balls for protection with the addition of spinning his body. According to various official materials from Sega, Sonic is described as a character who is "like the wind": a drifter who lives as he wants, and makes life a series of events and adventures.

7. Miles “Tails” Prowler The character of Tails is portrayed as a very sweet-natured and humble fox; who, before he met Sonic, used to be picked on because of his twin tails. As a long time friend, he admires Sonic and dreams of being just like him. Though he lacks courage, he wants to prove he can be counted on. He loves mint candy, tinkering with machines, and flying mechas. Tails has a fear of thunderand a tendency to ramble. Tails has been described as a mechanical prodigy who rivals Dr. Robotnik, however he has yet to realize his full potential. Additionally, by spinning his two tails like a helicopter rotor, he has the unique ability to push himself through the air to catch up with Sonic. However, when he takes to flight, he tires quickly. Tails is also able to swim.

Knuckles Official profiles have said that, as the last survivor of his clan, The Knuckles clan Knuckles lived most of his life in seclusion on Angel Island, an island floating in the air; as such he is something of a loner. His inexperience with off-islanders leaves him very honest, and also gullible. Knuckles is shy around girls; while some official sources claim that Rouge the Bat has a secret crush on Knuckles that she would never admit to. Although he is cool and determined in battle; his short temper gives rise to situations in which Knuckles, often instigated by the trickery of Dr. Eggman, begins fighting Sonic the Hedgehog.

9. Amy Rose Amy's character is the bright and overly cheerful self-appointed girlfriend of Sonic. She loves soft-serve ice cream and hates boredom, has a natural initiative, and a strong competitive streak,but gets into trouble often. With her strong sense of intuition and great passion Sonic has difficulty escaping her.Because of her pure heart,her character has often been used as the series Ingenue. Amy is quite formidable with her PikoPiko Hammer, a weapon with which her skills are exceptional.
