7. 2nd preliminary matter:
A CALL TO DO A WORD
FAST for SEVEN DAYS
Please do a FAST on the WORD OF GOD, on
I CORINTHIANS 13 (THE LOVE CHAPTER)…
ASK THE LORD TO LET IT SPEAK TO US VERSE BY VERSE,
LINE BY LINE, WORD BY WORD…
THE SPIRIT SAYS:
“THERE IS AN OPEN HEAVEN UPON YOUR LAND AND I
AM POURING OUT MY SPIRIT UPON YOU, BUT YOU
MUST BE CARRIERS OF THE FATHER’S AGAPE LOVE.
Know therefore what my love is and live it. Ask My
Spirit to fill you with the way I love!”
9. SCRIPTURE TEXT:
NUMBERS 13
The LORD said to Moses, 2 “Send some men to
explore the land of Canaan, which I
am giving to the Israelites. From
each ancestral tribe send one of its
leaders.”
• 3 So at the LORD’s command Moses sent them out
from the Desert of Paran. All of them were
leaders of the Israelites. 4 These are their names:
10. Numbers 13
• 17 When Moses sent them to explore
Canaan, he said, “Go up through the
Negev and on into the hill country. 18 See
what the land is like and whether
the people who live there are strong
or weak, few or many.19 What kind of
land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind
of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or
fortified? 20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor?
Are there trees in it or not? Do your best to bring
back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the
season for the first ripe grapes.)
11. Numbers 13
• 21 So they went up and explored the land
from the Desert of Zin as far as
Rehob, toward Lebo Hamath. 22 They
went up through the Negev and came to
Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the
descendants of Anak, lived. (Hebron had been built
seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)23 When they
reached the Valley of Eshkol,[a] they cut off a branch
bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried
it on a pole between them, along with some
pomegranates and figs. 24 That place was called the
Valley of Eshkol because of the cluster of grapes
the Israelites cut off there. 25 At the end of forty
days they returned from exploring the land.
12. WORD MEANINGS
EGYPT – MEANS BLACK
Basically, we can examine three groups of names which
have applied to Egypt. In the early period of Egypt,
during the Old Kingdom, Egypt was referred to as
Kemet (Kermit), or simply Kmt , which means the Black
land. They called themselves "remetch en Kermet",
which means the "People of the Black Land".

13. CANAAN
Canaan was the name of the fourth son of Ham,
the youngest son of Noah, the father of all
humanity (Genesis 9:18). This Canaan would
give his name to the much coveted country of
Canaan and the people who live there. The
original Canaanites (an ethically diverse group
of people) were displaced
by Israel (Deuteronomy 7:1)
14. THE ROOT OF THE WORD CANAAN
(negative and positive meanings)
• כנע
• The root-verb כנע( kana') is generally thought to mean to
be humbled, subdued, or brought into subjection, (So it
has come to be called as “lowland” – NEGATIVE MEANING
• HOWEVER, more fundamentally, this verb
ACTUALLY MEANS TO RULE, SUBDUE, TO
SUPPRESS, BUT NOT IN A BAD SENSE -
DESCRIBES THE PROCESS OF
SYNCHRONICITY; bringing elements from a wild,
feral state into a state of common order and mutual
benefit (like, say, a trade agreement). State formation
depends on synchronicity, but, more fundamentally, so
does language or sound formation, as in music – POSITIVE
MEANING
15. Implications:
• Synchronicity demand the abandonment of one's
naturally free state, which some thinkers
interpret as a wholesale loss of freedom. But in
fact, the secondary freedom gained (say: the
ability to converse) from this initial loss (giving up
growling and howling and having to agree on
words) is far greater. This same principle may
even explain why a universe which operates by
means of the second law of thermodynamics
(pursue maximum entropy) is able to produce
DNA and cells to run it (greater than maximum
entropy).
16. The Negev
• The Negev (or Negeb) takes its name from
the Hebrew neghev, meaning dry. It's located south
of Jerusalem and Judea, from which Negev has also taken
on the meaning south. Both names are quite appropriate -
the Negev is the southernmost area of Israel, and it is most
definitely one of the most arid Bible Places.
• The Negev stretches southward from the mountains and
lowlands of Judah where the rolling hills terminate abruptly
along the desert. The Dead Sea is located to the east,
the Mediterranean Sea is to the west, the Sinai is to the
southwest.
• THE ONLY WAY TO SURVIVE HERE IS TO
DEPEND AND TO TRUST THE LORD FOR
WATER
17. All the patriarchs went through
the NEGEV
The Negev was the scene of many events of Bible History -
• An early caravan route from Israel to Egypt went through
the Negev (Genesis 12:9, 13:1-3, 46:1-6).
• It was the territory of the Amalekites during the time
of Abraham (Genesis 14:7)
• Both Isaac and Jacob lived for some time in the Negev
(Genesis 24:62, 37:1)
• The Israelites wandered in the Negev during the Wilderness
Journey after the Exodus (Numbers 14:44-45)
• At the Division Of The Land, the Negev was allotted to the
tribes of Simeon (Joshua 19:1-9) and Judah (Joshua 15:20-
31)
• David included the Negev in his kingdom, and when
Solomon succeeded his father, he established fortresses in
the area.
18. HEBRON
• חבר
• The root-verb חבר( habar means to join
or team up. Apparently, this verb's
most basic meaning is to bind. Our
verb is used when objects are joined
(Exodus 26:3), or when men join
organizations or events (Genesis 14:3,
Psalm 122:3). Once this verb actually denotes
casting a spell (Deuteronomy 18:11). This verb
yields the following derivatives:
19. FUNCTIONAL MEANING
• The masculine noun חבר( heber), meaning company
(Hosea 6:9), association (Proverbs 21:9), or spell (i.e. a
binding; Isaiah 47:9).
• The feminine noun חברה( hebra), meaning association
or company (Job 34:8 only).
• The adjective or masculine noun חברה( haber), meaning
united (Judges 20:11), or associate (Song of Solomon 1:7,
Isaiah 1:23).
• The feminine noun חברת( haberet), meaning consort,
i.e. wife (Malachi 2:14 only).
• The similar feminine noun חברת( hoberet), literally
meaning that what is joined. It occurs only in
relation to the tabernacle curtains (Exodus
26:10).
• The masculine noun חבר( habbar), meaning business
associate (Job 40:30 only).
20. HEBRON
• The feminine noun חבורה( habbura), also
spelled חברה( habbura) and also pronounced as habra,
meaning stripe (Psalm 38:5) or blow (Genesis 4:23). To
join in another’s suffering, bear one another’s burden
• The feminine noun חברברה( habarbura), meaning
stripe or mark (Jeremiah 13:23 only).
• The feminine noun מחברת( mahberet), meaning a
thing joined (Exodus 26:4) or place of joining (Exodus
28:27).
• The feminine noun מחברה( mehabbera), meaning
binder or clamp (1 Chronicles 22:3, 2 Chronicles 34:11
only).
21. THAT IS WHY WE ARE ASKING
EVERYONE TO DO A WORD FAST
ON I CORINTHIANS 13
EPHESIANS 4:1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I
urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you
have received. 2 Be completely humble and
gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in
love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the
Spirit through the bond of peace.
I CORINTHIANS 16:13 Be on the alert, stand firm in
the faith, act like men, be strong. 14 Let all that
you do be done in love.
22. NIHOP MUST BE A COMMUNITY OF
LOVING PEOPLE – IN OUR HEART,
SPEECH AND WAYS!!
23. VERY IMPORTANT!!!:
WHEN DAVID WAS FIRST MADE KING, HE
ESTABLISHED HIS CAPITAL IN HEBRON
FIRST, WHERE HE RULED FOR 7 YEARS.
I CHRONICLES 29:26Now David the son of Jesse reigned
over all Israel. 27The period which he reigned over
Israel was forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven
years and in Jerusalem thirty-three years. 28Then he
died in a ripe old age, full of days, riches and honor;
and his son Solomon reigned in his place.…
IN HEBRON – HE UNITED THE HOUSES OF
JUDAH AND ISRAEL (THE HOUSES OF
DAVID AND SAUL), AND ONCE
PERFECTLY UNITED, HE MOVED TO
JERUSALEM, WHICH MEANS HOUSE OF
PEACE.
24. After Hebron is the
VALLEY OF ESHCOL
ESHCOL – means
“bunch” or “fruits”
VALLEY OF
FRUITS –
Moses said to the
spies, “Bring me
some of the fruit of
the land” (Numbers
13:20)
SO HEAVY (which
means GLORY –
CHABOD –
weight)
25. MEANING, UNLESS WE UNITE IN
LOVE FIRST (HEBRON), WE WILL
NOT HARVEST THE FRUITS OF OUR
CALLING AND DESTINY (ESHCOL)!!
26. THE PHYSICAL JOURNEY DEPICTS A
SPRITUAL JOURNEY
LEAVE EGYPT – Egypt means “black” (“death”, darkness)
Pass through the WILDERNESS – TRANSITION POINT FROM
FREEDOM TO FULNESS
GO TO CANAAN where the Lord will synchronize you and your
life, put everything in order, that you may be blessed
But you will pass through NEGEV FIRST – A PLACE OF DRYNESS
where you will learn to DEPEND ONLY ON HIM FOR YOUR
NEEDS AND SATISFACTION
But before you reach there and live there, you must FIRST
pass through HEBRON – WHERE YOU WILL LEARN TO BE IN
UNITY AND HARMONY WITH THE LORD, HIS LEADER, AND
GOD’S PEOPLE,
And then you will experience ESHCOL – where you will see the
FRUITS OF UNITY – VICTORY, CONQUEST, POSSESSION OF
THE PROMISE
27. BUT THERE ARE OCCUPANTS OF THE LAND;
opposition to the destiny!!!
28. THE EVIDENCE OF GOD’S PRESENCE
(SPOKEN ONE GENERATION
LATER TO JOSHUA)
• "This is how you will know that the
living God is among you and that he
will certainly drive out before you
the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites,
Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites
and Jebusites." (Joshua 3:10)
29. Canaanites
• The Canaanites apparently lived along the
coast and along the Jordan during Joshua's
time. However, the term Canaanite is often
used collectively of all the inhabitants of
Canaan regardless of racial origin. It is used
specifically in Joshua 5:1 to refer to the coastal
peoples, "all the Canaanite kings along the
coast," as well as those who lived along the
Jordan (Numbers 13:29 and Joshua 11:3).
30. Hittites
• Apparently some members of this group lived
in the hill country (Joshua 13:11). Several
centuries later, Uriah the Hittite, one of
David's mighty men (and first husband of
Bathsheba) was apparently from around
Jerusalem (2 Samuel 11:3-24; 23:39).
31. Hivites
• The name of this nation appears 25 times in the Bible
as a people living west of the Jordan. Hivites are
mentioned in Gibeon (Joshua 9:7; LXX Horite; 11:19), in
Shechem (Genesis 4:2, LXX Horite), and in the North
(Joshua 11:, "under Hermon in the land of Mizpah), in
Judges 3:3 "on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal
Hermon as far as Lebo-Hamath." Most scholars assume
that the Hivites and the Horites were the same nation.
The name does not occur later than David's time (2
Samuel 24:7). The name may have developed from the
word for "tent village." The city of Gibeon, that had
deceived the Israelites into thinking they were a far-
away tribe, was also a Hivite city (Joshua 11:19).
32. Perizzites
• The name may come from the Hebrew word
for "rural country" (HINTERLAND) or "rustic,"
thus maybe the Perizzites are "villagers."
Some scholars see them as a subgroup of
either the Amorites or the Hurrians.
33. Girgashites
• The Girgashites are mentioned only five times
in the Old Testament, and only in lists with
other inhabitants of Canaan. The name
Girgash has been linked with the personal
names Grgshy, Grgsh, and Grgshm found in
Punic texts, and grgs and bn grgs in Ugaritic,
suggesting that the tribe may be related to the
Phoenicians who lived on the coast of
Lebanon.
34. Amorites
• The Amorites lived primarily east of the
Jordan river. Sihon, king of the Amorites in
Heshbon, was one of Israel's early conquests.
(Numbers 21:21-31). Og, king of Bashan was
also mentioned as an Amorite king
(Deuteronomy 4:47; Joshua 2:10). Their lands
east of Jordan became the inheritance of the
Israelite tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-
tribe of Manasseh (Joshua 1:12ff).
35. Jebusites
• The term Jebusites referred to a group living in the uplands
of Canaan near Jerusalem. Jerusalem is referred to as a
Jebusite city (Joshua 15:8, 63), though the king of
Jerusalem is elsewhere referred to as an Amorite king
(Joshua 10:5). The area they dwelt in was inhabited by the
tribe of Benjamin (Joshua 18:28). Even though Jerusalem
was defeated by Joshua, the Jebusites were not fully
dislodged (Joshua 15:63; Judges 1:21). King David
conquered Jerusalem (2 Samuel 5:6-8) made it his capital.
What eventually became the Temple mount was then the
threshing floor of Arunah the Jebusite. David purchased the
area from Arunah the Jebusite for a place of sacrifice to
atone for his sin (2 Samuel 24:16-18).
36. Philistines
• The land of the Philistines was listed among the seven
nations the Israelites were to drive out, but they are
mentioned in Joshua 13:2-3 as the unconquered
peoples: "This is the land that remains: all the regions
of the Philistines and Geshurites: from the Shihor River
on the east of Egypt to the territory of Ekron on the
north, all of it counted as Canaanite (the territory of
the five Philistine rulers in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon,
Gath and Ekron -- that of the Avvites)...." The reference
to "Canaanites who dwell in the plain" (Joshua 17:16)
probably is to the Philistines, also, since they had
chariots of iron.
37. THE LOCATION OF
THE ENEMIES
• The spies saw THE
ENEMIES IN THE
NATURAL, MANIFEST
STATE
• They saw with their
PHYSICAL EYES
• They used their
NATURAL MINDS in
assessing the situation
38. THE PRINCIPLE OF SPIRITUAL
EQUIVALENCE
• THE EARTHLY EVENTS IN
SCRIPTURES HAVE THEIR
CORRESPONDING SPIRITUAL
EQUIVALENT IN THE SPIRIT
REALM.
• THE EARTHLY, VISIBLE EVENTS
STAND FOR SPIRITUAL,
INVISIBLE HAPPENINGS.
41. WHERE IN THE BIBLE IS THE
PRINCIPLE OF
SPIRITUAL EQUIVALENCE
(somewhat resonating parallel universe)
• I Corinthians 10:3-4 For I do not want you to be
ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our
ancestors were all under the cloud and that they
all passed through the sea. 2 They were all
baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the
sea. 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and
drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank
from the spiritual rock that accompanied them,
and that rock was Christ.
42. The spiritual equivalent of their enemies:
Spirit name Meaning of name
Abbreviated
explanation of
effects
Hittites Sons of terror
Subliminal torments, phobias,
terror, depression, deceit
Girgashites Clay dwellers
Focus on earthliness, unbelief
in what cannot be seen
Amorites Mountain people; renowned
Obsession with earthly fame
and glory, domineering
Canaanites Lowlands people
Addictions, perversions,
exaggerated people-pleasing
Perizzites Belonging to a village
Limited vision, laziness, low
self-esteem
Hivites Villagers
Vision limited to enjoying an
earthly inheritance, hedonism
Jebusites Threshers
Suppression of spiritual
authority in fellow believers,
legalism
43. SPIRITS TO OVERCOME:
1. HITTITE SPIRIT – spirit of fear (terror)
2. GIRGASHITE SPIRIT – fleshly (carnal, earth-
bound) spirit
3. AMORITE SPIRIT – spirit of pride,
SUPERIORITY
4. CANAANITE SPIRIT – man-pleasing spirit,
BASE OR PRURIENT (ANIMALISTIC) PLEASURES
5. PERIZZITE SPIRIT – spirit of inferiority and
worthlessness (denies our identity in Christ)
6. HIVITE SPIRIT – “in this world, for this life only”
spirit (inability to see eternal values), LIMITED VISION
7. JEBUSITE – spirit of oppression
44. SPIRITUAL MAPPING EXPOSES
these enemies to our calling and destinies
• THIS CALLS FOR THE MINISTRY OF SEERS or
• THE SPIRIT OF DISCERNMENT
45. The problem, however, was :
THE TERRITORIAL SPIRITS
INTER-ACTED WITH THE SEVEN PROBLEMATIC
SPIRITS WORKING WITHIN THE TEN SPIES
(The spirits of :)
(1) Doubt. They said, "We are not able" (13:31). Doubt
caused them to question their resources to take the
land, as well as their God who was leading them.
(Perizzite spirit)
(2) Self-depreciation. "We are in our own sight as
grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight" (13:33).
They saw themselves as teeny, tiny, little grasshoppers
about to be squashed by the big, bad giants. (Hivite)
(3) Fear. Joshua indicates in 14:9 that they were afraid.
Fear naturally follows doubt and self-depreciation. Fear
then will paralyze one and keep him from acting.
(Jebusite)
46. 7 INTERNAL PROBLEMATIC SPIRITS
(4) Critical spirit. When people become negative and
inactive, they turn to criticizing others who want to move
forward. The whole congregation was influenced by these
terrible ten to murmur and complain against God's leaders,
Moses and Aaron (14:1-2). (Amorite spirit – superiority)
(5) Rebellion. The preceding attitudes contributed to the
spirit of rebellion against God. They said, "Let us make a
captain and return to Egypt" (14:4). Can you imagine being
on the brink of the promised land, and then wanting to return
to the land of slavery? (Hivite spirit)
(6) Ingratitude. Implied is also a spirit that was not thankful
for their blessings. They failed to appreciate all that God had
done for them in the two years after leaving Egypt.
(7) Unbelief-disobedience. All of these negative traits can
be summed up in one word - unbelief. The writer of Hebrews
3:18-19 says that unbelief kept them from entering Canaan.
47. TRAGEDY
• SO THE STRENGTH OF THE ENEMY WAS
MAGNIFIED, AND THE MIGHT OF GOD WAS
NO LONGER EMPHASIZED
48. SO THEY GAVE A TRAGIC REPORT
NUMBERS 13
• 26 They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole
Israelite community at Kadesh in the Desert of
Paran. There they reported to them and to the whole
assembly and showed them the fruit of the
land.27 They gave Moses this account: “We went into
the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with
milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28 But the people who
live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and
very large. We even saw descendants of
Anak there. 29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the
Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill
country;and the Canaanites live near the sea and
along the Jordan.”
49. An attempt to change their minds -
NUMBERS 13
30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses
and said, “We should go up and take possession
of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We
can’t attack those people; they are stronger than
we are.” 32 And they spread among the Israelites
a bad report about the land they had explored.
They said, “The land we explored devours those
living in it. All the people we saw there are of
great size. 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the
descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim).
We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes,
and we looked the same to them.”
50. SO THE ASSEMBLY MURMURED! –
Numbers 14
• 1 That night all the members of the community raised
their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites
grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole
assembly said to them, “If only we had died in
Egypt! Or in this wilderness!
• 6 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of
Jephunneh, who were among those who had
explored the land, tore their clothes 7 and said to the
entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through
and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the LORD is
pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land
flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to
us. 9 Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be
afraid of the people of the land, because we will
devour them. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is
with us. Do not be afraid of them.”
51. Word meanings of names:
JOSHUA – Yeshua or Yehoshua
YHWH IS OUR SALVATION
SON OF NUN – Nun means “fish”
(daga), meaning to multiply or increase. This verb is only used in
Genesis 48:16, but its derivatives are ubiquitous and they all have
to do with fish: The nouns דג( dag) and דגה( daga) mean
fish, דוג( dawwag) means fisherman and דוגה( duga) means
fishery.
• נון -- The root-verb נון( nun) means to propagate or increase. It
occurs only once in the Bible, in Psalm 72:17,
where Solomon wishes the name of the king of Israel to
propagate; The sole derivative of this verb is the masculine
noun נין( nin), meaning offspring or posterity (Genesis 21:23, Job
18:19, Isaiah 14:22).
52. Caleb son of Jephunneh
• CALEB – dog, faithful
• פנהJEPHUNNEH
• The root-verb פנה( pana) means to turn toward, or rather
to bend or incline: a deliberate alteration of a course of
progression toward a newly declared and desired
objective. Our verb is used to describe natural features
'turning' toward a certain direction (Joshua 15:2), a path
'turning' into a better direction (Malachi 3:1), a vine's
branches 'turning' toward a tending eagle (Ezekiel 17:6), a
person 'turning' into some for onlookers unexpected
direction (Song of Solomon 6:1), an enemy 'turning' away
from the victim (Zephaniah 3:15), or folks 'turning' toward
achieving a situation (Haggai 1:9) or help (Job 5:1).
53. Numbers 14
• 10 But the whole assembly talked about
stoning them. Then the glory of
the LORD appeared at the tent of meeting to all
the Israelites. 11 The LORD said to Moses, “How
long will these people treat me with
contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in
me, in spite of all the signs I have performed
among them? 12 I will strike them down with a
plague and destroy them, but I will make you into
a nation greater and stronger than they.”
54. MOSES INTERCEDES - Numbers 14
• 17 “Now may the Lord’s strength be displayed,
just as you have declared:18 ‘The LORD is slow
to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin
and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty
unpunished; he punishes the children for the
sin of the parents to the third and fourth
generation.’19 In accordance with your great
love, forgive the sin of these people, just as
you have pardoned them from the time they
left Egypt until now.”
55. THE LORD FORGAVE, BUT….
NUMBERS 14
• 20 The LORD replied, “I have forgiven them, as you
asked. 21 Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as
surely as the glory of the LORD fills the whole
earth, 22 not one of those who saw my glory and
the signs I performed in Egypt and in the
wilderness but who disobeyed me and tested
me ten times— 23 not one of them will ever see
the land I promised on oath to their ancestors.
No one who has treated me with contempt will
ever see it.
56. THE REMNANT IS SAVED –
NUMBERS 14
• 24 But because my servant Caleb has a
different spirit and follows me
wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land
he went to, and his descendants will inherit
it. 25 Since the Amalekites and the Canaanites
are living in the valleys, turn back tomorrow
and set out toward the desert along the route
to the Red Sea.[a]”
57. A VERY IMPORTANT POINT:
ON THE POWER OF THE ASSEMBLY
• THAT NIGHT BECAME A NIGHT OF WEEPING AND
REMORSE
• The sin of unbelief and disobedience
was the sin of the Assembly!!!!
• The assembly (THE “LOWER HOUSE”)
“legislated” that they could not do it, that
God cannot help them!!!
• IT WAS THE “TISHA B’AV” – 9TH OF AV
• SO THE “UPPER HOUSE” – THE LORD
ALMIGHTY – DECREED THAT THAT DAY
BE ETCHED IN HISTORY AS THE DAY OF
UNBELIEF, WHICH EQUALS THE DAY OF
DISASTER!!
58. The mystery of the 9th of Av
• The 9th of Av, Tisha b'Av, commemorates a list
of catastrophes so severe it's
clearly a day set aside by G-d for
suffering.
1. 9TH of Av - The year is 1313 BCE. The Lord
decreed that the unbelieving generation will not
enter the promised land; sent the Israelites in 40
years of wilderness experience until all of the
oldies died
59. 9th of Av
2. The First Temple (built by Solomon) was
destroyed on the 9th of Av (423 BCE).
3. Five centuries later (in 69 CE), as the Romans
drew closer to the Second Temple, ready to
torch it, the Jews were shocked to realize
that their Second Temple was destroyed the
same day as the first – on the 9th of Av!
60. 9th of AV
4. When the Jews rebelled against Roman rule,
they believed that their leader, Simon bar
Kochba, would fulfill their messianic longings.
But their hopes were cruelly dashed in 133
CE as the Jewish rebels were brutally
butchered in the final battle at Betar. The
date of the massacre? —the 9th of Av!
61. 9th of Av
5. The Jews were expelled from England in 1290 CE on,
you guessed it, Tisha b'Av.
6. In 1492, the Golden Age of Spain came to a close
when Queen Isabella and her husband Ferdinand
ordered that the Jews be banished from the land. The
edict of expulsion was signed on March 31, 1492,
and the Jews were given exactly four months to put
their affairs in order and leave the country. The
Hebrew date on which no Jew was allowed any longer
to remain in the land where he had enjoyed welcome
and prosperity — was the 9th of Av.
62. 9th of Av
7. World War II and the Holocaust, historians
conclude, was actually the long drawn-out
conclusion of World War I that began in 1914.
And yes, amazingly enough, Germany
declared war on Russia, effectively
catapulting the First World War into motion,
on the 9th of Av, Tisha b'Av.
63. Summary of 9th of Av disasters
• The episode of the Golden calf (17th of Tammuz) in which the Hebrews, after their
exodus from Egypt, reintroduced idolatry as a form of spirituality.[8][9]
1 The First Crusade officially commenced on August 15, 1096 (Av 24, AM 4856), killing
10,000 Jews in its first month and destroying Jewish communities in France and
theRhineland.[6][10]
2 The Jews were expelled from England on July 18, 1290 (Av 9, AM 5050).[6]
3 The Jews were expelled from France on July 22, 1306 (Av 10, AM 5066).
4 The Jews were expelled from Spain on July 31, 1492 (Av 7, AM 5252).[7]
5 Germany entered World War I on August 1–2, 1914 (Av 9-10, AM 5674), which
caused massive upheaval in European Jewry and whose aftermath led to the
Holocaust.[6]
6 On August 2, 1941 (Av 9, AM 5701), SS commander Heinrich Himmler formally
received approval from the Nazi Party for "The Final Solution." As a result,
the Holocaustbegan during which almost one third of the world's Jewish
population perished.
7 On July 23, 1942 (Av 9, AM 5702), began the mass deportation of Jews from
the Warsaw Ghetto, en route to Treblinka.
8 Most religious communities use Tisha B'Av to mourn the 6,000,000 Jews who
perished in the Holocaust, including special kinnot composed for this purpose (see
the mainkinnot article) (in addition to, or instead of, the secular Holocaust
Memorial Days.)
64. LESSON:
HOW YOU RESPOND TO THE CHALLENGES TO
YOUR CALLING OR DESTINY, WHETHER FAITH OR
UNBELIEF, BECOMES AN ACT OF LEGISLATION,
ESPECIALLY BY AN ASSEMBLY.
THAT IS WHY WE ARE VERY CAREFUL
HERE IN NIHOP, THAT ON GOD’S
APPOINTED FEASTS, WE GATHER A
SOLEMN ASSEMBLY AND
LEGISLATE FAITH AND VICTORY!
65. REMEMBER
• "Now all these things happened unto
them for ensamples; and they are
written for our admonition, upon whom
the ends of the world are come" (1 Cor.
10:11). KJV
• “These things happened to them as
examples and were written down as
warnings for us, on whom the
culmination of the ages has come.” NIV
66. RECALL:
First “BACOLOD FOR JESUS”, October 2013,
prophetic act – poured oil on kilometer zero,
dedicated Bacolod to Jesus for His protection
against natural calamities.
ONE MONTH LATER, YOLANDA CAME, AND SPARED
BACOLOD!
67. 9TH OF AV - WHEN WILL IT FALL THIS
YEAR AND NEXT?
• The fast of Tisha b'Av falls on the Hebrew
calendar date of 9 Av. Here are the coinciding
secular dates for the upcoming years:
• 2016: August 13-14
• 2017: July 31-August 1
• Note: The Jews fast on this date. Their calendar
date begins at sundown of the night beforehand.
Thus the fast begins with sunset of the first
secular date listed, and concludes at nightfall the
following day.
68. Learnings and applications:
1. THE LORD PROMISED ABRAHAM AND
MOSES THAT HE WAS GIVING CANAAN TO
HIS PEOPLE; THE PROMISED LAND WAS
THEIR DESTINY
70. Learning:
3. IN FIGHTING OR CONTENDING FOR THEIR
DESTINY, THEY HAD TO “SPY OUT” “THE LAND” –
THEIR CALLING AND DESTINY!!!
THEY HAD TO DO SOME “MAPPING”!!!
71. THE QUESTION, HOWEVER, IS
WHAT WAS TE SPIRITUAL CONDITION OF THE
SEERS WERE DISPATCHED? THOSE WHO CAN
ONLY SEE THE ENEMIES, BUT CANNOT SEE
THE LORD, HIS WORK, HIS ANGELS, HIS
ARMIES?
WHAT DO YOU SEE?? WHAT DO WE SEE??
THE ENEMIES OF GOD, and their moves?
OR THE FORCES OF GOD and their moves?
72. THE JEREMIAH MODEL OF SEEING
The Lord asked Jeremiah: “WHAT DO YOU
SEE JEREMIAH?” (Jeremiah 1:11)
“I see the branch of an almond tree” (v. 12)
“YOU HAVE SEEN CORRECTLY, for I am
watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”
(v. 13)
Again the Lord asked “WHAT DO YOU SEE
JEREMIAH?” (v. 13)
“I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the
north.” (v.13)
The Lord said “… disaster will come from the
north…”
73. Of the twelve spies sent by Moses…
ONLY TWO WERE SEER-FIGHTERS:
1. JOSHUA
2. CALEB
But you know the rest of the story, the assembly
prevailed in unbelief, and the entry to the
promised land was delayed by 40 years!!!
74. CONTRAST THE JOSHUA
SPIES with the earlier spies
(4O YEARS LATER…)
JOSHUA 2:1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly
sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look
over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So
they went and entered the house of a
prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.
• (ELEMENT OF “HIDING”, “SECRECY”…)
75. JOSHUA 2
• 2 The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of
the Israelites have come here tonight to spy
out the land.” 3 So the king of Jericho sent this
message to Rahab: “Bring out the men who
came to you and entered your house, because
they have come to spy out the whole land.”
76. JOSHUA 2
• 4 But the woman had taken the two men and
hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to
me, but I did not know where they had come
from. 5 At dusk, when it was time to close the city
gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went.
Go after them quickly. You may catch up with
them.” 6 (But she had taken them up to the roof
and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had
laid out on the roof.) 7 So the men set out in
pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the
fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the
pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut.
77. JOSHUA 3
• 3 Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set
out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they
camped before crossing over. 2 After three days the
officers went throughout the camp, 3 giving orders to
the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of
the LORD your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it,
you are to move out from your positions and follow
it. 4 Then you will know which way to go, since you
have never been this way before. But keep a distance
of about two thousand cubits[a] between you and the
ark; do not go near it.”
(FOOTNOTE: SHITTIM MEANS “ACACIA” WHICH IS THE
MATERIAL USED FOR THE ARK OF THE COVENANT
AND MANY ARTICLES IN THE TABERNACLE)
78. JOSHUA 3
• 6 Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of
the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.”
So they took it up and went ahead of them.
• 7 And the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I will begin
to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may
know that I am with you as I was with
Moses.8 Tell the priests who carry the ark of the
covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the
Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’”
79. JOSHUA 3
• 9 Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the
words of the LORD your God. 10 This is how you will know
that the living God is among you and that he will certainly
drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites,
Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. 11 See, the
ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go into
the Jordan ahead of you. 12 Now then, choose twelve
men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. 13 And
as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD—the
Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters
flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.”
(NOTE!! The act of CHOOSING THE MEN to
collect the stones was BEFORE THE
CROSSING. This was a PROPHETIC ACT OF
FAITH!!)
80. Joshua 4
• 4 When the whole nation had finished crossing
the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua, 2 “Choose
twelve men from among the people, one from
each tribe, 3 and tell them to take up twelve
stones from the middle of the Jordan, from right
where the priests are standing, and carry them
over with you and put them down at the place
where you stay tonight.”
(NOTE: THIS WAS AN EXAMPLE OF A PROPHETIC
ACT. “MOVEMENT-MONUMENT/MEMORIAL-
MOVEMENT…”)
81. Joshua 4
• 4 So Joshua called together the twelve men he had
appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, 5 and
said to them, “Go over before the ark of the LORD your God
into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a
stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the
tribes of the Israelites, 6 to serve as a sign among you. In
the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these
stones mean?’ 7 tell them that the flow of the
Jordan was cut off before the ark of the
covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the
Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut
off. These stones are to be a MEMORIAL to
the people of Israel forever.”
82. Joshua 4
• 19 On the tenth day of the first month the people went up
from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern
border of Jericho. 20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve
stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the
Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their
parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 tell them, ‘Israel
crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the LORD your
God dried up the Jordan before you until
you had crossed over. The LORD your God
did to the Jordan what he had done to the
Red Sea[b] when he dried it up before us
until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so
that all the peoples of the earth might
know that the hand of the LORD is powerful
and so that you might always fear
the LORD your God.”
83. WHAT IS THE POINT???
SPIRITUAL MAPPING IS WITH A VIEW TO
ATTACK THE ENEMY (THE GATES OF HELL WILL
NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THE EKKLESIA – THE
ASSEMBLY)!!!
AND WHEN WE SEE THE ENEMY, WE PROCEED IN
BOLDNESS AND FAITH!!! WE ATTACK!!
86. A PROPOSITION TO NIHOP:
• WE ARE IN A JOURNEY OF FAITH AND OBEDIENCE
• 2016-2017 (5776-577) IS A CRUCIAL TRANSITION

89. ASSESMENT OF OUR PRESENT
SITUATION, BLESSINGS OF THE LORD
1. I believe that, and I thank the Lord and give ALL THE
GLORY TO HIM, that He has CONFIRMED that He has
established us as a PROPHETIC COMMUNITY:
DEUTERONOMY 18:
21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a
message has not been spoken by the LORD?” 22 If
what a prophet proclaims in the name
of the LORD does not take place or
come true, that is a message
the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has
spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.”
90. The confirmation/affirmation:
1. OCTOBER 2013 – we anointed Bacolod for
protection against natural calamities:
a. We were DRAMATICALLY SPARED FROM
YOLANDA
