2. ASK ANY SPORTS FAN...
... and they’ll tell you the same thing: Defense wins games, not
offense. No matter how good your offensive plays are, they
aren’t enough on their own. You simply can’t win if you can’t
defend against your opponents.

3. THE SAME PRINCIPLE OF GOOD
GAME STRATEGY APPLIES...
...to growing your net worth. Sure, your main objective is
probably to go out there and earn more, save more, invest more,
just like the main objective of any game is to score. But the more
you earn, the more you may risk losing.

4. IT CAN BE UNCOMFORTABLE TO
THINK ABOUT AND PREPARE FOR...
You may lose your wealth by becoming sick or injured (whether
on the job or not), or by death, or by becoming embroiled in a
lawsuit, or simply by market exposure in a down market. There
are a million ways to lose your hard earned assets, and it can
happen much more quickly than it took to build them.
...but the fact is no one is immune to risk.

5. PROTECTING YOUR WEALTH IS JUST
AS IMPORTANT AS BUILDING IT.
A strong defense is a necessary part of the team that allows the
offense to win games.. As with anything in life, there’s no way to
completely eliminate risk, but you can put as many barriers as
possible between creditors and your property.
