3. Easter traditions
The origin of the Easter holidays is
in Christianity derived from "Easter"
from Saturday to Sunday, when he rose
from the dead
Jesus Christ.
Easter traditions are
extremely rich
but also diverse.
They are a celebration of spring,
the awakening of nature
from winter sleep and the birth of new life.
4. The most typical tradition in our country is
the cleaning of homes,
exorcism and Easter decoration,
which makes our homes shine with colorful
spring colors and typical decorations,
among which reign painted Easter eggs.
5. However, they are one of the most important for
Christians
holidays of the year, believers gather in
churches,
to remind
Christ's crucifixion and resurrection
and honored his message.
7. Easter holidays are starting here in Slovakia
for Christian believers already on Maundy Thursday.
On Good Friday, they commemorate the crucifixion
Jesus Christ and they fast all day.
Holy Saturday marks the end of the 40-day fast
and the Easter Vigil begins the celebration
Christ's Resurrection.
8. This means that they are held on Saturday evenings
in churches of devotion,
they consist of a ceremony of light - blessing
Easter fire and candle, so-called paschal.
The devotions culminate in the celebration of the
Resurrection

9. Easter Sunday
is the central holiday of Easter,
because it is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus
Christ.
That's why in most Slovak households
a festive atmosphere reigns, which is part of
the menu is richer and more varied after the fasting
period.
They are usually served sliced or smoked
meat with potato mayonnaise
salad, cold plated bowls
and sandwiches, but also desserts and cakes,
among which there is also an Easter lamb.
12. Easter traditionally culminates on Monday
dousing and whipping girls and women.
These traditions still exist in Slovakia
