Introduction
     Robotics is the branch of technology

                 Deals with the
    design, construction, operation, structural
             disposition, manufacture

Application of robots and computer systems for
       their control, sensory feedback, and
              information processing.
History
  The first actual robot was a paint spraying
     mechanism and was invented in 1938.

The book Isaac Asimov wrote in 1942 in which
  he presented the Three Laws of Robotics was
               called Runaround.
The Three Laws
                First Law
    A robot may not injure a human
being, or, through inaction, allow a human
          being to come to harm.

                  Second Law
A robot must obey the orders given it by human
     beings except where such orders would
           conflict with the First Law.

                   Third Law
A robot must protect its own existence as long
  as such protection does not conflict with the
              First or Second Law.
Types & Uses Of Robots
1. Mobile Robots
   *Known as Automated Guided Vehicles
   *Used for the work of material
     transportation in large workplaces

2. Industrial Robots
   *Have more accuracy, speed, reliability as
     well as endurance
   * Have potential to replace humans in
     performing difficult tasks

3. Telerobots
  *They function at places, which are not safe or
      inaccessible for humans
  *Used for exploration of space
  *Used for construction of spaceships,
      maintenance of satellites

4. Robots in agriculture
  *Used to pick apples, gather harvest, plant
     seeds and transplant seedlings

5. Service Robots
  * Used for military purposes
  *Perform underwater tasks
  *Clean harmful materials
  *Used in house cleaning
  *Caring of elders
  *For entertainment
Advantages
1. Quality
    * improve product quality
    *applications are performed with precision
       and high repeatability every time
2. Production
    *increase in production
    * have the ability to work at a constant
       speed without pausing for breaks

  * increase workplace safety
  *perform dangerous applications in safe way

4. Savings
  *offer untiring performance which saves
      valuable time
  *less material is wasted
Disadvantages
1. Expenses
    * initial investment is expensive
    *regular maintenance is expensive

    *presence of robot can cause safety
       problems in some critical situation
