3. Abstract:
An uninterruptible power supply is an electrical apparatus that provides emergency
power to load when input source, typically the main source power fails. It provides
near-instantaneous protection from input power interruptions by supplying energy
stored in DC power bank. In first step the AC current is converted into DC by AC to
DC converter, then the Power Bank is charged by it. After that the DC current is
converter into AC. Then the AC current is fed to “Small Scale Industry”. In our project
we use Load a Universal Motor ,which is used as a conveying system in small scale
industry and other AC load.

6. DEMAND IN SMALL
SCALE INDUSTRIES
Electricity is an essential thing in every sector of industry.
The requirement of electricity is different for different
industries.
For small scale industries electricity usage are different and
are as follows:
• Manufacturing Industry: 1. Lightings
2. Run small machinery
3. Run conveyor belts(if it
is there)
• Trading Industry: 1. Lighting and appliances
2. Small tools
3. Devices
• Service Industry: 1. Lightings and appliances
2. Computers, etc
7. WHY UNINTERRUPTED POWER
SUPPLY?
Due to this gap between the supply and
demand, there should be cut in power.
Even during the peak hours (at evening) the
demand is at its peak, so to satisfy the need of
important divisions/city, supply has to cut in
less important areas and villages.
If the electricity board want to supply all the connected loads even in this power
deficit situation. Due to low voltage there will be extra pressure on the
transformers and it may burn. Low voltage also reduces the efficiency of other
electrical equipment and load.
One day when the Peak electricity power shortage will reduce to zero, power
cuts will be vanished from India.

10. AC to DC Converter
Here the Bridge Converter is used to convert DC current into AC . Bridge
Converter is an example of a full wave rectifier that has 4 diodes connected in
two cycles; positive half cycle and the negative half cycle.
Below showing the bridge rectifier.
11. DC Power Bank
• A Power bank(battery) is an electrical device which is a combination of several
electrochemical cells, used to convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy or
vice versa for rechargeable batteries.
• The reliable operation of Uninterrupted Power Supply systems depends on the battery
to a large extent.
• When a battery is connected to the load, energy stored in it gets utilized, this is known
as ‘discharging of battery’.
• The battery can be given energy from an external source to restore its energy again, the
process called ‘charging of the battery’.
• In our project we use 12 volt ,7 amps DC Power Bank.
12. DC to AC Converter
DC to AC converter, so called Inverter, is used in the conversion process. This
conversion is done by Turn-on or Turn- off devices ,like BJT,MOSFETS,IGBT etc. The
method to complete the desired outcome would be to first convert the low voltage DC
power to AC, and then use a transformer to boost the voltage to 230 volts. Here we use
CD4047B , is a asatable multivibrator , due to this operation. The multivibrator provides
a square wave , which is fed to the transformer.
14. MOSFET(IRFZ44)
The MOSFET is a voltage controlled field effect transistor. It has a “Metal Oxide”
Gate electrode which is electrically insulated from the main semiconductor n-
channel or p-channel by a very thin layer of insulating material usually silicon
dioxide.
15. UNIVERSAL MOTOR
The universal motor is so named because it is a type of electric motor that can
operate on both AC and DC power. It is a commutated series-wound motor where
the stator's field coils are connected in series with the rotor windings through
a commutator. It is often referred to as an AC series motor.
Universal motors have high starting torque, can run at high speed, and are
lightweight and compact.
18. APPLICATION
1. DATA CENTRES
2. TELECOMMUNICATION
3. BANKING AND INSURANCE
4. SPECIAL PROJECTS(EVENTS)
5. HEALTH CARE: HOSPITALS AND CLINICS
19. FUTURE ASPECTS
This is a form of green energy which does not harm nature. In this
system we can use non conventional energy sources such as solar
energy, wind energy etc. for charging of battery which represents the
green future.
The advancement of this technology also helps in maintain the power
supply of data centres, banking system more effectively.
